Why would anybody want to watch a VHS today?
Not everything I taped off of tv is available on disc or streaming.
The last ever VCR will be produced by the end of the month.

Expect people to eventually price gouge on even the post 2000 VHS decks, which are 99% plastic. I probably have enough machines to last me 20 years with light use.
I would think someone would still make an industrial machine for archival purposes.
Clearly the author of that article is unaware of the VHS revival going on in the colonies. š

Maybe I should have said:
Why would anybody want to watch a VHS when there is no better quality option.
Itās retro and itās trendy. Some indie horror video labels have included bonus VHS tapes with their DVD releases.
There are still hundreds, (if not more) movies that have never seen the light of day on DVD, let alone Laserdisc, and many people have home movies on VHS they havenāt transferred to a digital format yet.

I donāt think Iād ever watch a VHS voluntarily. I donāt care about retro-ness or trendy-ness either.
I still occasionally go to the local charity store to get 99 cent tapes of movies that I either havenāt seen before (or at least not in a long time) or just donāt care quite enough about to shell out the Blu Ray money.

Donāt fly Delta. You might be forced to watch TFA on VHS. š

Your loss.

I flew Delta fairly recently and all I got was a safety video full of internet memes that nobodyās used in years, and Dr. Strangelove (which I didnāt get to finish because the flight was too short).

My loss for wanting superior image quality? Not much of a loss.
Why would anybody want to watch a VHS today?
Iāve got hundreds of VHS tapes.
I watch at least one a week.
Iāve got an untouched VHS player still in itās box should the heads die on the one I have now but itās built like a tank. It was designed as a car VCR so I doubt if Vuvuzilla could squash it.
Content occasionally matters over quality.

Key word: Occasionally.
Actually I find classic Doctor Who episodes feel more authentic when watched on VHS than on DVD because my parents house had terrible broadcast reception and we would frequently get ghosting and the like so it recreates the experience of watching it originally to not have the clarity of a restored DVD presentation. The only thing I really like about the DVDs are the extras.
You could always rig up an analog video transmitter, and stream the DVDās to your CRT? š

Well, if you had: one, you would be forgetting the question mark. Two, even with the question mark, YOUāD BE ANSWERING YOUR OWN GODDAMN QUESTION.
Why would anybody want to watch a VHS if there is a better quality option?

Same reason somebody would shoot Super-8 when they also have access to a go-pro, because itās got a different aesthetic.
VIZ TOP TIPS! - PARENTS. Impress your children by showing them a floppy disk and telling them itās a 3D model of a save icon.
I love that VHS feel. Thereās just something there. I mean sure, in general Iāll want to watch a DVD or Blu-Ray or whatever for the quality and whatnot, but sometimes you just want to relive your childhood sitting on the floor inches away from your CRT TV (so close you can smell the ozone!), watching Star Wars off a VHS cassette from the 80s (donāt forget to rewind it after or youāll have to wait when you want to watch it next time). Itās so good.

To me, instead of āItās so good,ā I get āItās so bad.ā
No, thatās the Nintendo Power Glove.

Same difference.
Yhwx you have sufficiently told us your opinion of VHS being inferior. Thank you, you do not need to repeat yourself, it would be redundant.
Donāt do drugs, unless youāre with me.
