This may be a discussion for the technical forum, but how do people generally deal with 480i Blu-ray material in terms of IVTC? I still can't tell if film-originated material is hard or soft telecined in conversion to h.264 - the avisynth scripts I usually use for MPEG-2 certainly don't seem to work as expected.

Incidentally, it's a pity 23.976fps 480p was never included in the BD spec, particularly given most players will handle it anyway. It would have made this sort of thing so much easier...

Personally, I use the decomb plugin with AVISynth for IVTC - Telecide() and Decimate() - never gone wrong for me yet.

Does DGNVIndex not tell you whether the fields are repeated or not?

In terms of encoding to BD spec, using x264 I either go with the pulldown option, or if your content is high enough quality, upscale to 720p using nnedi3.

A dumb question - what did happen to all the promised extras - the alternate commentary track, the promo photos, the 3D stuff, the production footage ... Was it ever released? I'm asking because I found out none of the stuff is on my copy and now I don't know if I just have one of the previous versions or if FanFiltration changed his mind and didn't release it?

After the years and years of Fanfiltration making the restoration. It was found that the film itself was more important than the extras. However, he does have a few cool extra's on the disc.

My thought to you is, what is stopping you from taking his film restoration and creating your own disc set? Lot's of people here have done that with no problem and usually the fan creator, fan editor, or restoration editor has not problem with that as long as they get credit somewhere on the disc. Someone is germany recently took my Extended Zeist Version and created a German only and German only audio and used German extra's and created there own disc.

My question wasn't meant as criticism or anything like that, just a normal question. I actually AM working on "something" The Motion Picture related, that's the reason WHY I asked, because I have absolutely NOTHING to add as bonus materials.

I'm not sure if it's somewhere in the 28 pages of posts, but can I have a download link for this version of the film? I do have an actual VHS tape that was given to me by my uncle, but I'd love to have the Widescreen edition of the film.

If you need to see my VHS copy it'll be a few weeks before I can actually dig it out of storage

We don’t give out invites anymore due to all the hit n runners that come here for them. They get what they want and run … and they ALL say, “we’ll seed for like ever”.

It might still be in the newsgroups but I do not know. I know I upped it at the invite only place but I stopped giving out invites as well.

Maybe pm FanFiltration and see if you can work out something.

Did you download the torrent software you used for downloading from that torrent site (through what would actually have been a malicious advertisement rather than a real download)? That’s the only way I could see that happening if it was a popular torrent site. If it was some fly-by-night one that just copies the torrent titles from real sites and makes it so every download is a virus, that’s another story.
