Putting the Scene Where Leia Chokes Jabba In an Entirely New Light

Is your avatar Alanis Morissette's senior class picture?

Nope. The photo's taken from the back of her debut album. She was sixteen at the time, though, so it's close!

I'm surprised Robot Chicken hasn't done a SW sketch about this yet.

Once you read this article you will never see that scene the same way ever again.

I always did think Jabba had a sex-face going on in that scene...

Sorry, nope. The same thing could be said about ANY choking scene ever put in a movie - the difference between that and erotic asphyxiation (the reason David Carradine died) is that the choking is inflicted as a means to kill.

Leia wanted to kill Jabba. The end.

Although I never quite got how... was Jabba's neck at his back??

See, that's some skillful puppetry right there!

I'd like to see them pull that off with CGI!*

Well.... There's a bit of a sexual element between Leia and Jabba. Jabba wants Leia, makes her wear that bikini, licks her face... Leia is revolted. That's about as far as it gets, but it is sexual.

As for choking Jabba, she's putting the chain around where his neck would be, were he a human, and pulling. That, I suppose, is how you strangle someone, more or less. She's on his back because she has to stand behind him, but he's huge.

Some people are just morons that fail to see the funny... or they do see it but insist on ruining the fun for everyone else.

There are 10 types of people in this world: those who understand binary, and those who do not.

Rule #34.

IT'S MY TRILOGY, AND I WANT IT NOW!

"[George Lucas] rebooted the franchise in 1997 without telling anyone." -skyjedi2005

"Yeah, well, George says a lot of things..." a young 1997 xhonzi on RASSM

"They're my movies." -George Lucas. 19 people won oscars for their work on Star Wars (1977) and George Lucas wasn't one of them.

Rewrite the Prequels!

I don't get it.. She threw the chain over his head and choked him from behind. What's weird about that?

Oh... maybe that's how it was :D

Yea, I just couldn't see how you could extend that to the choking scene - always looked to me like Jabba was rather distressed by it.

Makes me think of GoldenEye - when Famke Jenssen begins to choke that old fart, he seems pretty terrified and in pain (even though he'd liked it rough up until then), but then when Bond discovers his corpse, it has a stupid grin on its face :D
While comically absurd, they kinda made more of the whole innuendo thing, didn't they?

God, that movie's awesome. :D

About as far as it gets in what's shown within the movie, anyway. ;) There's so much of a deeper context at work in their scenes together.  After all, Leia does go from being disgusted while wearing a full suit of armor to running to Jabba, jumping up on his throne, and pushing her half-naked body up against all that slimy, squishy blubber without even the slightest hesitation or look of disgust; that didn't come from just one night of sitting in front of him!  lol

I have weird friends.  You're not going to regret this.

I never, ever, ever, ever expected this thread existed.

Though I feel a bit bad in helping to run kristarwars off the site. They never sinned, per se, but only viewed a scene of ROTJ through provocative glasses.

A new member signed up and shared their unique interest in Leia's relations with Jabba, and some of us came down heavy.

I was surprised to find DuracellEnergizer had some of the same views. Maybe we're all more alike than we assumed.

I found the reaction ironic considering some old postings I know of that went quietly ignored. And don't ask me what they were.

If they found the whole Jabba/Leia angle kinky, so what? It was George's idea to begin with. ;)

I've been sensing a trend to pounce all over anyone new who doesn't immediately fit right in. It's understandable with all the real troublemakers we've had the past year or so, but remember, we were all newbies once.

I'm lucky all the potentially dumb things I've ever said online were pre Google.

And now, I kind of want to see the uncropped version of Kristarwars' avatar.

A different thread?  I certainly don't see that here.

Of course, my original post was purely tongue-in-cheek.
