Problem Burning OCPmovie's Classic Editions

I have on my computer OCPmovie's Classic Editions of Star Wars and ESB (both of which are spectacular) and ROTJ is downloading now. However, I seem to have problems burning these onto a DVD. Both work fine when I view them on my computer. However, when I try to burn the VIDEO_TS file onto a DVD, I get a weird error message:

"Failed to read memory cache
DVD_Video
Can't open file!
The system can't find the file specified

Filename: C:\...\VIDEO_TS\VTS_01_0.VOB
(E HL-DT-ST DVDRW GWA-4166B (4,0)
Sense Key: 0x05 ASC: 0x21 ASCQ: 0x02
Message: INVALID ADDRESS FOR WRITE INCREMENTAL"

I've tried using two different DVD burning software - CheetahBurn and DVDPowerBurner, and I'm downloading a trial of Nero right now. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated!

Edit: Tried using Nero, and that didn't work either. It said something about "Could not perform end of Disc-at-once" in the error report.

I really don't know what the problem is, but I didn't have any problems when I burned the OCP-movies...

As I understand it, you shouldn't burn movies with Nero directly because Nero removes the 32 Kb gaps between the dvd-files, which can cause problems... I always use PGCEdit to create the image-file and then i burn that with IMGBurn. You'll find links to all relevant programs at the PGCEdit-homepage. I suggest you try that.

Come to think of it, PGCEdit uses IMGTool classic to generate the image-file, so you don't really need PGCEdit for that purpose.

But I think you should use PGCEdit anyway because the IFO-files may need to be corrected, which it does automatically (you could use IFOedit for this purpose, as well). I'm only speculating now, but that could be the problem.

Just a thought: Did you stop your torrent from uploading while trying to burn the discs? Obviously with torrents it's important to "pay them back", but you have to stop the torrent from uploading while burning. Then, when done, start your torrent again for seeding.

I'm also having a problem trying to burn off the SW5:ESB DVD from OCP, however it seems that Nero has handled SW4 & SW6 without any complaints. This is what is happening :-

I have an LG-4163 burner and have the DVD-ROM bitsetting turned on (hmm, maybe that's the problem). Anyway, I am also adding a few DVD Cover .jpg's with it (which I've also done with every other DVD I've ever burnt). When I go to Burn the DVD, this is what happens ...

Inside the status box below the "Compilation name:" moniker it says ...
DVD-Video files reallocation started
File 'VIDEO_TS.VOB' is not referenced and should not be present
DVD-Video files reallocation failed

An OK/Cancel window comes up telling me ...
"DVD-Video files reallocation failed. The resulting DVD-Video might be unplayable. Do you want to continue?"

Naturally, I opt out of burning the DVD since I don't really want to waste a disc finding out later that it might not work. I tried using FixVTS as suggested before to hopefully fix whatever corruption is causing this error, although the end result is that the VIDEO_TS file is completely removed and the IFO/BUP files are changed in some way. Still, Nero refuses this modification and brings up a different error.

I don't know anything about the coding of a DVD, but I do understand the need for compliancy with the (?)-book standard etc. I'm wondering if somebody out there could finally get these files to a proper standard and possibly provide a link to them online. And I'd rather not go through the rigmoral of creating an ISO image since any burning program may not indicate the validity of said image. Can someone maybe suggest another reliable DVD burning program other than Nero (ie I would love to finally migrate away from this defacto-standard software)? Many thanks.

Hey Rick, welcome to the forum!
Sounds like you downloaded the torrent from myspleen.
While I'm no fan of Nero, in this particular case Nero is right -- those VIDEO_TS.* files are b0rked.
I've got different (working) IFO/BUP files from when that disc was uploaded to Usenet group alt.binaries.starwars
Send me a private message (PM) if you'd like to try them.

Re: alternatives to Nero
I like Jorg Schilling's open-source mkisofs and his freeware cdrecord-ProDVD but I'm running Linux so your mileage may vary....

For a bit more info about this problem check out my message from February 28 in this thread.

However, in practice you must take into account the “fuckwit factor”. Just talk to Darth Mallwalker…

ImgTool Classic is primarily a GUI for mkisofs. So yes, I like it too.

As reported by our friend DMw, the link that he provided may have the answer I'm looking for (I haven't tried this as yet, but I reckon it may be a goer, although I'm wondering why I didn't think of it myself). The suggestion is to run the DVD folder through DVDShrink (without compression) and this may filter out whatever nasty bug is contained within. I'll give it a try soon and let you know whether Nero won't spit the dummy any longer (or not).

There was another suggestion of removing the VIDEO_TS.VOB file altogether, but I'd rather not risk that. Anyway, I'll let you know how it goes one way or another.

Just for the record, that other thread I linked has a few different suggestions from a few different folks.
Of course you're welcome to try any of them, but the only one I endorse is the one I suggested, namely replacing the offending files with the ones segaflip posted to a.b.starwars.
I believe segaflip copied the files without modification; hence, I believe they're ocpmovie's original files.
I believe Metallaxis also copied the files without modification, but he didn't get his disc from ocpmovie.
I don't doubt DVD-Shrink or some other IFO editor might be able to repair the files to a working state, but I prefer to have ocpmovie's original files.
[Well, not enough to pay his price, but I prefer to use what I believe are his original files.]
Again, I'll supply the ones segaflip posted.

Rick, you've got PM.

So does anyone know if the OCPMovie version of ESB on MySpleen has been fixed? Is there another torrent site that has this version in a noncorrupted state?
