PrequelTrilogy.com - A new forum for a new era . . . — Page 2

There are like 8 people on that forum and the last post was 2 months ago. Safe spaces are for the weak. The river devil eats those who are weak.

I really don’t like invite only forums. Yes we have idiot spammers but they are fun and quickly dealt with. Besides, we should be accepting to all the new fans TFA brought and those who left because of the PT era.

It seems like people are really embracing the new characters. In fact, the big question people ask me now about Star Wars is, “Are Finn and Poe gay lovers?” And really how the f*ck would I know? My second husband left me for a man, so my gaydar isn’t exactly what you’d call Death Star level quality. ----Carrie Fisher

You might want to switch to 4chan then!

Invite only has it’s advantages and disadvantages. We’ve had people pop up out of the blue with useful resources. I don’t think would happen if they didn’t come across a thread before joining up.

The next forum update ought to make sniffing out the socks much faster. And nobody likes it when Jay calls their parents. 😉

I have no idea if it would be possible to have a segment of the forum in which anyone can create an account and post in, and then if they prove themselves to not be trolls, then they are allowed into the site? Either way, it sounds like you’ve got it under control. Is an IP ban in the works?

Many forums have a public side and a private side.

Not sure I think we ought to, however.

It’s a tough call to make and I don’t envy the mods here. The idea of never seeing a Ghimli post ever again (under any alias) is a desirable one, however.

TFA in the fan fiction section? If that site isn’t a joke then it sure should be.

How typical…

Yeah, a more apt title for this thread would be “A New Forum for an Old Era”.

I still have no idea if this is a real thing or not.

It could be a weird site that the OP discovered and used as a prop for this joke.

Obi-wan Kenobi is the reason Sand People is used instead of Tusken Raiders, apparently. He also gave them disease-ridden blankets. This is from that site. Hmm.

That is absolutely hilarious.

^Yep. A user claimed “I covered this in my 2008 Tusken fanfiction,” in regards to the “Sand People” slur.

What about a delayed registration approval? It wouldn’t stop the most die hard trolls from eventually coming back. But you should be able to see if they’re stockpiling registrations, or otherwise they’ll need to wait a while and they might be over whatever manic episode they’re in the middle of (not making light of psychological issues, but: some of these kids have some).

When I say I think it should be invite only, I don’t mean it should be hard to get into or have limited numbers of invites or anything. But it would slow down some of the trolls and all but probably one would lose interest. Plus I don’t think there’s a need to make the forum hidden with that model. So it wouldn’t deter anyone from registering in that sense, though some few people will lose interest before the approval. It’s not to keep the trolls out entirely, as that’s not possible. But it makes trolls like the kid today unable to burn through five accounts in a row.

The new software sounds interesting, though. I’m not sure what’s currently in place.

Yeah, I actually covered this in my 2008 Tusken fanfic, “Crying Behind the Goggles”. Kenobi was actually instrumental in spreading the slur, along with all kinds of lies. He would tell people the Tuskens, a proud warrior race, ate dried bantha dung, or they couldn’t hold their space liquor. He was like the Custer to the Tuskens’ native Americans. Not cool, man. I even included a part where he gives some Tuskens a bunch of blankets infected with Endorian lice.

I personally would like to know whether or not this fanfic is meant to be comedic. If so, it could be an amusing read. If not … well, it could still be amusing, but for the wrong reasons.

That doesn’t even make sense, the Tuskens were already feared and loathed long before Obi Wan ever set foot on Tatooine. Even if the Tuskens somehow had a reputation for being friendly, how much could someone who’s regarded by the locals as a crazy old hermit really impact that one way or the other?

‘Space’ liquor? Shouldn’t it be ‘desert liquor’?
