Your parents are always going to be larger than life to you, and it’s as if suddenly the moon were missing from the sky. He was frightened to have to go in for the open heart surgery, but I’m glad it went well and he was in a state of recovery when the fatal stroke occurred, so his last waking moments were not of fear.
We weren’t as close as we could have been, and now I regret not making more of an effort to be. I feel really bad for him that this happened, when we were all ready to help him recover and I sort hoped it’d be a good way to muster a closer relationship.
If you wouldn’t mind, prayers for my family are welcome. It’s too late to pray for the man himself, so I am left regretful.

These are sad times indeed. I haven’t lost either of my parents, but I have lost both of my grandfathers. They were both strong believers (father’s father being a pastor), so when they passed, I wasn’t as sad as I was rejoicing at their joining with the Lord. When my mother’s father went, a young man he knew was caring for him, and during the middle of the night (on Father’s Day), he kept awake, singing hymns, praising the Lord, and waiting for him. The young man asked him if God was saying anything, and he answered: “Come home.”

I’m not sure why I’m telling the whole story, but, I was wondering if your father was at all a believer in Christ. Either way, I’ll pray for your family.

This sounds like you’ve got a lot of problems, so I’ll be happy to pray for your life.

^He would not have identified himself as a believer, though he did as a youth. However, he surprised us by wanting to pray with us a few separate times the week before the surgery. Again, he was apprehensive about it.
I do take comfort in trusting to God who loves him as much as He does me, and whose providential hand I’ve seen work in his life and worked good through for me.

It just occurred to me to ask: Does anyone have any updates on whether things have gotten better?

Yeah the tornado from my earlier post here came and went and my relatives are just fine.

Thank God for that, as I wouldn’t have been able to take it had one of them been hurt or worse, since I already lost one grandmother just over a week earlier.

Can you guys pray for a special request? I mean is it cool if it’s a bit blurry like that?

Do you mean a request that will not be disclosed in detail? Then yeah, if you don’t feel like sharing about it you don’t have to give the details, and you can always PM me or someone else if you just don’t want to post it on the board.

I don’t know how to really word this, but I guess I’m asking for a prayer request or just a positive/calm thought. Today has been really rough for me, I don’t think I can talk about why, but I would appreciate anything resembling peace at the moment. I guess you could say my soul is very tormented at the moment and although time is supposed to be on my side, it feels like it’s the enemy. It’s supposed to get better a little each day, yet it feels like everyday is worse than the previous.

I don’t know, it’s incredibly stupid what’s going on with me, and it shouldn’t affect me as much as it does, but holy hell, today was f**king horrible.

I have this constant nagging fear that no one will ever love me and that I’m cursed to be alone for the rest of my life. It’s totally irrational but it lingers in my mind regardless.

So yeah… pray for that to go away.

That’s no way to think of yourself. If you believe in Christ, then He wants to talk to you, regardless of where you are. He loves you, just as he loves everyone else. None of us are truly worthy of His love, or even conversation with him.
