Sorry, but I'm officially cancelling this project. Get behind Dan to do a V2 with a dvd release.
Wha?
Allow me to rephrase.
...
Why?
I'm sorry to hear this - it was shaping up to be a great edit.

Not really. I mean the opening scenes that I had shown you was basically all that was done on it anyway.
I mean the first draft I did I think was pretty good idea wise but due to Womble's terrible audio engine numerous pops and split second audio drop outs at cut points ruined it to me. (And let me tell you that pissed me off because I had actually planned on being done with the edit at that point. I mean all the actual edits themselves were smooth and seamless but womble kept adding pops and shit at cut points that I didn't know how to get around at the time)
I'm sorry to hear this, Possessed. I hope you manage to find some new software that does what you want and have another go at this when you feel ready. :-)
It is unfortunate that this was cancelled. Hope that some day you have another try at it.

Maybe I should change the status to put back. I mean, I think the reason I was so burned out on it was because I had already edited through the whole film twice. I'm actually happy with the software.
I'm sure it'll come back eventually. Probably a little in april, and then again over the summer...
Nice! Glad to hear the change to "Postponed" Possessed.
It'll end up being more conservative though. Honestly I've been uncomfortable changing the plot the whole time. I don't want to seriously change the structure of the film, I just went to present the film without the embarassing moments and tightening up what's left to be more in line with the first two movies.
I am ready to knock this one out though. I might take a stab at Phantom Menace after this. I know it's been done to death but I feel like I could make a good edit of it.

Good! That sounds like enough time to have a nice long break. Until then, take it easy, mate. :-)
Ah the more Phantom Menace edits, the merrier. :)
With all the activity going on in Spences thread, and rightly so his edit looks like it's going to be fantastic, I guess this edit will be for those more conservative, who like ROTJ but dislike some things about it.
And just a small update for when I get back to doing this: Some small segments will contain footage from Dark_Jedi's Gout, with some color correction done to match with the '04 footage. (I actually don't have a problem with the coloring of rotj in the o4 discs). Examples I can think of at the moment would be using footage from the gout to remove the bantha herds at jabba's palace. And some shots with lightsabers, although I will try to fix that by adjusting brightness and contrast levels first. And of course removing Hayden.
And the majority of the films audio will also now be using hairy_hen's 5.1 rotj mix, for it's superior quality to the '04 mix.
Since I'm gathering new sources I might as well get another, does anybody know of a place where I could get an isolated score for rotj without having to download the entire Editdroid DVD?
I can't help with that issue, Possessed, but I want to chime in to say I'm glad you're still going. I appreciate that you tried something that I wanted to see, even though it ultimately isn't where you wanted to go. I am really grateful and I think it was really exciting.
Watching your edit come together has made a lot of things clearer to me personally. ROTJ is a bit of a blank slate because different people have different ideas of what's wrong with it. Thanks for sticking to your guns. I think it's going to turn out great.
I'm glad you're still doing this cut. To me, there's as much opportunity editing Jedi as there is with the prequels. I hope to see more people editing it in the future.
Thanks guys. I like Spence's edit alot so far and will definitely watch it when released, and his v2 edit was an inspiration for me too.
My cut will be pretty conservative, basically same plot and film but just edited to remove some flaws.
I'm glad you enjoyed my v. 2, and I hope you like the new version. It's my favorite edit I've done.
I'd like to see another more conservative edit of the moive. Cutting it conservatively never completely satisfied me, but I do like watching the movie not changed up too much.
If you want to steal anything from any of my ROTJ edits, feel free.
Really? Like, would you have a problem with me using some of your footage of the edited battle on Endor? Because the cuts were all pretty much the same I would make, and I'm a busy person, so if I could use a version that already had those cuts in place it would help alot to get the edit done. I'd give you credit in release notes of course.
Yeah, as long as credit is given, use whatever you want. I have no ownership over an edit of something I have no ownership of.
BTW, the new version is color corrected and different than v. 2. So if you liked how it was cut in V. 2 I would say just use that one.
Alrighty, will do. I might just recut it anyway because I don't remember where I put that edit at...

Interesting
In what parts? Do you have some comparison images that showing the changes? :)
