Penultimate Movie Seen — Page 2

Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Skull (Crystal Skull edit, suggested by TV’s Frink). As most of movies have been, this was only watched while doing homework, so I can’t really enjoy the full experience as much as I’d like. That said, the edit did a fantastic job replacing the music so it felt more like the rest of the trilogy and cutting the most offending parts. I think there were a couple cuts that I felt could have stayed, but virtually everything else wasn’t missed a bit! Lots of fun!

Also I’m mad you enjoyed it because you made this thread and you deserve to suffer for it.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull: The Essential Edition (fanedit by Q2).

…I haven’t actually finished watching it yet.

The only thing worse than using this thread at all is using it wrong.

Actually I think I have that backwards, but using it wrong is still pretty bad.

Nor does it say you may only discuss the movie you fully saw.

A dispute of this magnitude can only be solved by Hillbot.

As the OP, I feel like I should clarify the intent here and end this debate.

Nah!

The thread title says “Penultimate movie seen”.
If ya didn’t finish it, ya haven’t seen it.

That is your interpretation.

It’s penultimate movie seen, not penultimate movie partially seen. There’s only one valid interpretation. If a friend asked you if you’d seen a movie but you’d only watched half of it, would you just say “yes I’ve seen it”? No, if you’re a decent human being you would say something to the effect of “I’ve seen part of it.”

To you.

If a friend asked you if you’d seen a movie but you’d only watched half of it […] you would say something to the effect of “I’ve seen part of it.”

Or “Yes, but only part of it.” Which is indeed what I actually said. The thread rules did not specifically stipulate otherwise, nor does Ender’s reply regarding this debate seem to indicate an either hard nor fast rule regarding such exists.

The correct language would be “No, only part of it.”

That would be the language you would use. It is not the language I would nor did use. Such is the nature of language. Further, OP basically doesn’t care about such distinctions. He left it up to us to decide, and your arguing with me is not going to change what I said.

You can pretend words mean whatever you want em to, but that’s just not how it works.

Yes it is. Words mean whatever to whomever is using them, and to whomever they are communicating with. I was not communicating directly to you, therefore I was not holding myself to your standard of definition.

Words change over time depending on usage, and there is no dictionary definition regarding whether the word “seen” is defined as meaning “all” or “in part”, nor if in part how much in part or of what part.

But the more important thing is, have you seen another movie since then?
