POLL: Your favorite fan edited movie

Author
Time
These are some fanedits I found. They can all be downloaded via bittorrent somewhere. Of course these are not all the fanedits that exist, there are way more. I chose these because they all were alterations of the originals. Please feel free to name the ones I forgot. And now make your choice.

I would have voted for ADMs edits of the originaltrilogy SE or Darth Editous' edit of Star Wars which remove the IMO crappier parts of the SE and into a watchable SE or Ocpmovie's great Classic Editions......

What ? ... where's Building Empire and why am I not on this list for ANYTHING? With all the edits I've done ... still certain people just seem to not notice (or ignore) that I exist ... is this thing on? Testing, testing ...

FYI,

It was Deleted Magic that encouraged me to get involved in fan edits in the first place.

Cheers!

Glad to hear that. Feel honored actually.

I'm to blame for at least one of the other edits on this list too. =) I'm glad that my little film has caused people to go, hey, that's interesting, I should try something with my own favorite films ...

Hey, do an anamorphic version of Dune. =)

PS - where the hell is Superman II RIC on this list? What a lame list.

Deleted Magic is an excellent disc - but I would class it as a fan-made documentary rather than a fan edited movie.

I don't think boon23's intention was to ignore you, I think it's just that your DVDs don't fall within his definition of a fan edit.

Deleted Magic is a reedit of Star Wars, the first one. He included "The Sith Revealed," which was a similar thing done with Revenge of the Sith. My Classic Editions are definitely fan edits and those aren't in there.

You know, these edits got me thinking - "The Quick and the Dead" could definitely be improved with some distinct edits, like all the damned "zooms" and the bullet-hole through Gene Hackman.

But I'm just thinking out loud...

MeBeJedi: Sadly, I believe the prequels are beyond repair.
JediRandy: They’re certainly beyond any repair you’re capable of making.

MeBeJedi: You aren’t one of us.
Go-Mer-Tonic: I can’t say I find that very disappointing.

JediRandy: I won’t suck as much as a fan edit.

Perhaps you haven't seen a Sam Raimi movie before. He has zooms in everything. That's what makes him Sam Raimi.

I understand it's his style - it just didn't fit the style of the overall film. Cutting some of them out would make a big difference.

Well I see your point now.

I personally would like that movie no matter what you did to it. Then again I said the same thing about Star Wars at one point.

I have seen very few fanedits of the ones mentioned here, especially no Star Wars edit at all. What I want here is a poll about fanedits of movies, this means that there is an original movie that was altered. This is why there are no DigitalfrakNYC DVDs mentioned here, although they are fantastic, but they are something completely different. When I add Star Wars edits I have no idea what they are about, I just do as I am told by you guys. Btw. I think it would be nice to either have an official poll or pin this to the top, because it might attract people to watch some fanedits and show them what we have done already. Still 24 votes after 10 days is seriously weak.

My favourite at the moment would have to be ADM's Revenge of the Sith. Although the original was an improvement on episodes I+II, ADM really sorted out a lot of the weaker elements of the film.

I think STAR WARS - Episode II.I - Attack of the Phantom should be the list also as not only is it a far better edit than the original, but a very well put together DVD.

I think that Superman 3 shouldn't be on the list though, as its not a fan edit. It was edited for TV under the supervision of the Salkinds, where they threw in all the footage they could to beef up the run time, resulting in a lot more crap footage of an already poor Superman film.

As an afterthought, Deleted Magic would definitely be up there in my top 3 fan produced DVD's.

Haha, he's only put that on there cos I (tongue-in-cheek) badgered him for not including it on the original poll. Doubt he#d ever heard of it before to be honest

Bear in mind that many of us haven't seen all the contest entries, unlike the contest judges. Also, they were judging on the merit of the edit, whereas we are likely to be biased by which movies we like most in the first place.
