Other than Jar Jar and midichlorians, what don't you want in episode 7? — Page 2

I don't want characters that try to be "cool" or any knowing nods to the previous films - like a damn spaceship hiding on an asteroid / bigger ship.

I don't want any of the original cast to die.

I don't want to see the "human" side of stormtroopers, I don't want to see their faces (no hope of this if the latest rumours are to be believed)

Don't want Sith or any other Jedi except Luke... Certainly don't want dumb acrobatic twirly light saber fights. Keep it broadsword. And I don't want long jedi training scenes, talking about the Force.

Basically I don't want any reference to the PT.

I DO want the classic ships from the original trilogy, Tie Fighters, AT-AT's etc. A good Space battle would be cool, but something straight forward, not the cluttered mess of ROTS.

I want the films themselves to be made in a similar style to the original trilogy, meaning I want that Kurowsawa influence, not shakey cam, lens flare and rapid editing. I want The Searchers in space

I'm hopefull about the new film. I think JJ Abrams knows that a huge part of the attraction of the OT was not only the story and characters but the hardware, the way things looked and functioned. Even the Falcon had character. This appears to be the way they're going, using some of McQuarries designs and building real sets etc.

I wouldn't mind seeing a storm trooper without their helmet on, just to prove they aren't clones. The fact that stormtroopers (and ESPECIALLY Boba Fett!!) were clones really pissed me off in the prequels. Also, I don't read any books about Star Wars so I'd rather not hear a comment about how a book explains that stormtroopers aren't clones (see them all the time on Youtube comments), Ep. II made it pretty clear that they were, and I like to just go based on the movies.

I don't want JJ to listen to Disney if they tell him to tone down the gore or make it more "kid friendly". Star Wars had an onscreen neck snapping, a bloody dismemberment, the smoking corpses of a married couple and the onscreen deaths of most of the members of a fighter squadron, as well as the destruction of an entire planet's population. It didn't need to be kid friendly, and neither does this.

I don't want JJ to include anything in the movie purely because previous episodes also contained said things. If the story can more naturally be told without a single lightsaber fight, so be it.

In fact, I don't want to see many references at all to previous episodes. To quote Steve Jobs: "A lot of times, people don't know what they want until you show it to them". If there is a choice between showing me something that I've seen before and something new, surprise me.

I DO want Star Wars to surprise me again. I want to be left not knowing what will happen next, and being interested in the outcome. I want JJ and Kasdan to have thought deeply about what the primary message of Star Wars really is, and if the saga is to end with episodes 7, 8, and 9, to make this final installment in the trilogy of trilogies be a revelation that deepens and redefines the previous trilogies as well.

A guy can dream.

You probably don’t recognize me because of the red arm.

Big references to the PT.

I can accept that there will be some references, but I don't want it to heavily focus on it. I can live with references to planetary systems as part of the universe as well as some technology, along with vague reference to anakin's fall to the darkside, but that's about it really. But please, no more purple lightsabers and bad lightsaber choreography - as seen in AoTC and ROTS (TPM had this done a lot better imo).

Darth Vader Ghost or The Emperor ghost.  I love these 2 bad guys, but lets have a an original bad guy (they can still be a Sith).

All prequelism's to be not mentioned at all, or special edition-ism's  But i know that is impossible.

Yeah for star wars to be what is was pre 97, i think is impossible.

It has been its been 21 years since the last time they made any modern transfer of the original films.

All people know is the cgi ruined versions.  They even show them when they talk about effects of the 70's in Hollywood fluff piece retrospectives.

It does not help that in about 2000 the ruined versions stopped being called special editions.  Yeah you got that right the 2011 edition is advertised as being made in 1977, 1980, 1983.

I would like only the original true versions to be a starting point for the new movies but i know better than to believe that will happen.

Again, I have no preference, but I'd love to see them blatantly contradict the prequels in the ST.

I don't want the ST to contradict the PT as much as I don't like the PT contradicting some elements of the OT. Adding even more contradiction in the Star Wars world is NOT a good idea. At all.

I'd like to take this one step further and say I don't want to see the Emperor at all (no clone/resurrection Legends BS) or Darth Vader at all (as the newest rumors claim).

^Truer than true. I should've noted that I hate the idea of jedi vs sith as an eternal struggle. The "sith order" should never have been a thing.

The idea of an eternal jedi vs sith struggle would be enough to get me to walk out of the theater and cease to be a Star Wars fan. I preferred when Vader and Emperor were evil because they do evil things rather than because they're part of an ancient organization.

For Luke to have a Son who is an emo douche like Hayden Skywalker.

Who skulks around with a sullen look on his face.

No mention of the stupid prophecy to bring balance to the force.

No Hayden Christensen, or Ewan Mcgregor Kenobi, no cgi Yoda ghost, no mace Windu, no Darth Maul, no Boba Fett as clone of Jango Fett.

No prequel easter eggs of any kind.

No politics about trade disputes that last an hour long.

No rule of two.

No Jedi forbidden to love bullshit, or forbidden to marry and have children.

No prequel jedi who are as bad as sith and too stupid to know, who also steal children from their parents and permanently separate them from their family, because of some bullshit about emotion and attachment being of the dark side.

If they could come up with an original villain, I would be all for it.  But the problem is you need someone who is as powerful as a Jedi, so you are essentially locked into that battle for this galaxy?

Couldn't someone else become just as powerful as a Sith could? Couldn't there be other powerful people and beings out there?

The Legions of Lettow immediately come to mind when I think of a powerful dark side religion beyond the Sith and Dark Jedi.

Of course, there's too great a chance that they'd just become ersatz Sith if they were ever adopted into the films.

If you ask me, it's the Sith who deserve the "ersatz" label. Vader and Palpatine will always be Imperials to me, not Sith.

a big hello to all that remember me on here. Just a few words to begin with (for what its worth) Life's been very eventful since I last graced (lol) these forums and I feel I'm quite a different person to the last one who was on here. A much more..calmer and considered person I dare to say :-). Despite all the madness that's been happening personally, I haven't failed to keep myself up to date with all the news relating to Episode VII. Fair to say there's been quite a bit going on. Anyway now that's out of the way, to the threads question.

i don't want to see unoriginality. I don't want to see too many nods to the style of ANH. As in a loveable rogue/ anti hero character. Luke mirroring Obi Wan from Star Wars. As in the old Jedi who..well, you know the rest. I remember all that 'rhymes' crap Lucas came out with to justify the lazy story telling we had to suffer in the prequels. None of this please. Make the story original and fresh.

Blatant nostalgia baiting, sure it's Star Wars and we all expect a crawl and "In a galaxy far far away" but I hope these ones stand on their own two feet.

Furthermore, I fear that any Sith master that appears in episodes 7-9 would be an ersatz Emperor and any Sith apprentice would be an ersatz Vader.

Give me The Emperor or don't give me Sith at all.
