Flipping through Revisited, I found a problem I need suggestions on how to get around. Adywan has "burned in" subtitles during Han & Greedo's scene.
I suppose I could actually use the video from the P&S version I find (if I go that route) and burn in my own subtitles...

Adywan has "burned in" subtitles during Han & Greedo's scene.
I've heard, and I could be wrong, but Adywan might be a member of this forum, I know this might sound rediculous, but he might have the video without subs, and if you demand (using curses and person threats to family and friends) he might consider offering it so that you can revises the subs to fit the Pan&Scan mythos.

Just rip the scene from the GOUT - no burned in subs AND shitty video quality built-in!
My outlook on life - we’re all on the Hindenburg anyway…no point fighting over the window seat.
Then it would have too many levels of degradation... I'm trying to make the entire movie as high quality as possible (which looks to be around 474x358), then letting the VHS do all of the dirty work. ;-)
Anyone have a P&S of ANH (2004 SE, I guess), they can upload at a crappy bitrate somewhere? Since I'm just getting the pans from it, it doesn't need to be high quality...

I just have the Malaysian VCDs of the 97 SE. They are FullScreen 6 CDs... (all three Movies 2 CDs the first movie) would this help?

I will try & do it but unfortunately I live in UK & have the 2004SE in PAL, & the SW:R DVD9 in NTSC.
I'd have to convert the 2004SE to 29.97 to blend in with the SW:R footage.....
Just remembered I've got the 2004SE in HD, need to check if its in PAL or NTSC.

Yeah but the frame rates can differ, if my HD source is from Sky for example it would be 25fps......PAL (or 50fps if it was sport)
If it was from US it would probably be 24fps....ATSC, HD NTSC,

Anyway it does matter where the HD source material came from as its frame rate does differ.

Ady made me a Greedo scene sans subtitles, so I played with that for a few minutes. A few things to re-learn, then I should be set!

I took a screenshot of Revisited and cropped out a 4x3 section from the letterboxed image. Those were the numbers of the zoomed in image.
A lurker uploaded a P&S version of the SE, so it looks like I should have everything I need to get started!

Another possible feature could be the creation of the first television broadcast of ANH:R (circa 1984) by adding continuity links and advert breaks should that sort of material be around.
I'll leave that to others. I'm too young to recreate something like that. And whose commercials do we use? USA East, USA West? UK? Australia?

If it was to be the very first it would be CBS but you wouldn't need the adverts just the break cards and the continuity/intro idents.

Its not perfect (looks like some framerate issues on YouTube), but it gives you an idea of what the P&S will look like. There are no pans, as I didn't feel like the slight pan at the beginning of the scene was necessary.

Looks great Eyeshotfirst, but I'd recommend extending the top and moving it so that the Star Wars logo doesn't overlap the trilogy part. Not sure how it went on the VHS boxset, but it looks off this way.
