Now it's just getting ridiculous- Obi Wan's new howl. — Page 3

If this is going to be on the BD, I wonder what other changes will be in store for 2011? Lucas keeps changing his vision every seven years.

That's fabulous!

Thanks for posting the audio Adywan.

Having it sound so human like is pretty silly considering it's 'supposed' to be the call of a beast. It makes it sound like a harmless old man having a bad acid trip.

I keep expecting to hear "wipe out!" at the end.

Nice!

Can anyone post the 2004 clip or audio? Youtube doesn't have it or I couldn't find it.

Guaranteed, Ewan McGregor will be a force ghost at the end of Jedi. :-/

Hey is there any chance you could post the Original howl... I've been looking for a clean version of that for ages.

There is one thing I'm excited to see: CG Yoda in TPM!!!

I'm also hoping for a more OT faithful CG Yoda render for the PT.

I heard this will be released like Blade Runner, ALL versions of each film on its own BD, ALL previously released extras from VHS,LD's and DVD's plus some we have not seen, ALL audio mixes, ALL color the way it is supposed to be, and the entire BD set is going to be packaged in a HUGE Collector's quality Millenium Falcon, I am ALL OVER that!

So pre order now.

I hope that it only costs $1 and that the Millennium Falcon collector's case is LIFE SIZE!

And that it's in DTS.

I've been told none of that will happen, but I hope it does anyways.

IT'S MY TRILOGY, AND I WANT IT NOW!

Here is the sound if you want to hear it:

And no, this isn't fake. Anyone who has the "sounds" book will verify this.

I just listened to this and I cannot believe it- it sounds like a guy on a surfboard! They could have at least tried to make it sound like an older man! Horrible.

Scratch the above post, this is the dumbest suggestion ever.

Collector's cases only come in DOLBY DIGITAL.

Vader flushed him out an airlock on Robot Chicken, and with the RC gang working on a SW series now, I think it ought to count as canon. ;)

As much as I dislike this new howl, you guys didn't actually like the original howl did you?

I used to do my best to vocalise the original howl as a child (and later as, uh a teenager to freak people out) - the whistling "ooooh" with the croaky roar on the end, what was particularly wrong with it?

The new sound, out of context, certainly sounds pants. I love "back lot" moviemaking (like filming the dagobah monster in George's swimming pool) but this does just sound idiotic - another one to make Marcia weep.

[ I think ] this is the howl I remember from the OT, but who knows what my original memories are anymore :(

as a kid I never knew it was supposed be Kenobi vocalising, it kind of worked unconsciously that he was somehow scaring them away.

out of context that original sound is also pretty hokey - possibly in a good way. with the music on top this new effect might be ok. might.

Yeah, that's the original.

It may not be the best sound effect in the world, but it's infinitely better than the 2004 howl, or the current one.

That new sound is one of the biggest piles of garbage I've ever heard.  Even the 2004 dvd version sounds better than that, and that one was pretty cruddy its own self.

It might not be a bad effect for some other movie, with an entirely different context, but for this?  Epic fail x 1000.

The old effect sounds like a beast, and the novelisation says that Ben had imitated a krayt dragon, which is supposed to be a large and fierce but rare creature inhabiting the wastelands.  (The skeleton C-3PO encounters near the beginning belongs to a krayt dragon.)  Even the sand people were obviously pretty terrified of them, and it makes much more sense for a such a thing to make a booming howl than an echoing whistle, or sound like some douche on crack in the case of the new one.

I just do not get it.  What is their incessant need to keep tampering and fiddling with things that don't need to be fixed?  It's like someone who has had a dozen plastic surgeries and is never satisfied, but convinced that the next one will make them the most beautiful person on the planet, and then the next one, and so on ad nauseum.  It's ludicrous, and it would be laughable if it weren't so infuriating.

This new "howl" is so stupid, it sounds like something I did on Windows Sound Recorder in 1999!

Awful in every way. Oh yeah, Ben just needs to sound like a couple of drunk guys in a parking lot to scare off sandpeople.
