Newbie - a little help!

Hi guys - seems i might have stumbled into somewhat of a wonderland!! I've been a huge fan of movies for years and for quite a while a now have been looking to get hold of fan projects such as the Chronologic Godfather and Star Wars Fan edits etc. It seems i might have eventually come to the right place!!

I've been a trading of fan produced music DVD's for about 15 years now, so well versed in the whole trading game, but never been involved with the movie side of things (basically because i didn't know how to get my hands on fan projects).

Not sure if i'm posting in the right section here, but i'm looking for some help of how i go about trading with people to get hold of some of the fan edit movies that float around. Do people do B&P's?

Any help would be appreciated

Welcome to OT! There’s really no rule to distribution here, and it’s very much particular to individual projects – your best starting point is to look up the thread on the work you’re interested in, and see what methods are discussed.

In the case of bigger projects, like Jambe Davdar’s or Adywan’s Star Wars releases, there are usually healthy torrents available for quite some time (Myspleen and Demonoid are favourite trackers around here).
More ‘classic’ Star Wars projects are best found via newsgroups (alt.binaries.starwars is the best source by far).

Beyond that, your best bet is simply to ask someone to send you a disc! There’s no harm in posting a message in the relevant thread and asking for some kind soul to volunteer a copy, or otherwise directly approaching someone who you know has it. In either case, you’ll want to use the private message function at some point, so make sure that’s switched on.

Most folks on here are good guys, so if you’re nice about it (and you clearly will be) you should have no trouble tracking down the stuff you want. Of course, it doesn’t hurt to have something to trade, but I’m sure your music discs will come in handy there…

Thanks guys for all the help and advise! I'll try and jump on some torrents where i can, i have a limited download limit but i'm patient when it comes to these things.

I'll start looking through the threads and seeing where people can help me from there.

I look forward to a getting to know a few more people on here :-)
