SHOCK indeed....it's all coming together.....

Shock. Coming together. Wow. That is really more than I needed to know guys.

Guess it floats some guys boats, but I could never share like that. Not even if I was extremely drunk. I am kind of selfish when it comes to women I guess.

I also didn't like the fact they added Morgan Freeman's character, just to be P.C.  They also had to P.C. Maid Marion's character.   I also couldn't stand  the fact that they added that witch character.

No one ever describes their own actions as "PC." PC is what the other guy does that we don't like.

I thought Morgan Freemans character was a welcome addition, tying Robin's origin to the Crusades and contrasting Islamic learning with the British medieval time gave that film a unique charm and intellectual depth.

And how did they "PC" Maid Marion?

they had to toughen her up,  heaven forbid they depict her as the damsel in distress.   Morgan's character was added just so they so say there movie had a black guy.

of course no one describes their own actions as P.C..  Most wouldn't be willing to admit to such a thing.

you do know that P.C. stands for Politically Correct, right?

lets put it another way:  if all things were same, but Islamic people were white, do you think they would have added an Islamic character?  I don't.

By all means, let's get Robin Hood out of Lincoln green and into some armor.

Looks like another in the growing line of Lord Of The Rings-inspired "epics".  Cue the slow motion battles,  a scene where the leading man yells just before an attack, the female lead who is entirely too beautiful and too tough for the time period, the muted colors, the stylized battle scenes, and the ready-to-be-quoted sound bites.

I've not seen any of them, but from a trailer perspective;  King Arthur, 300, Kingdom Of Heaven, Beowulf, Alexander, Troy, etc - and now Robin Hood - they all look the same.

I'm a fan of some of Russel Crowe's work, so I may watch this when it comes on cable.

I do know that, and it's a term used when someone thinks what someone else does is stupid.

So that fact that Azeem is the most interesting part of the film matters not at all, just some people wanted a black dude in the flick.

And the fact that Marion is captured and BEING RAPED during the climax and robin heroically saves her isn't enough? She should have been crying and cooking during the scene as well?

Are you suggesting she was, in fact, already pregnant in this scene?

IT'S MY TRILOGY, AND I WANT IT NOW!

not only stupid, but also done so as not to offend a certain group when that group really shouldn't be offended at all.

1. I don't think Azeem is all that interesting

2. He takes away from the story of Robin Hood.  He is not really part of the "legend".

3.  Look at an other recorded form, in any form of media,  of a telling of the legend of Robin Hood.  Tell me where you can find a character named Azeem.   I don't think you'll find him.   You see things about Robin Hood, Friar Tuck and such, but not Azeem.   There was no reason for him being there expect to say "look! we have an Islamic black man in our story!!!"

4. you have heard of the concept of the token black guy(or women or ect . . . ) right?  That is what Azeem was.

hmm, I forgot that.   Maybe I'm wrong about Marion.   Its been at least 15 years since I seen the thing(maybe longer).

I respect the fact that he didn't even try. Costner with a fake British accent could have been pretty awful. What all didn't you like about the Hood staring Kevin Costner, Warb? I sense venom.

yes, I hated that movie with a passion.  Costner was a miscast, and yes, he was speaking with a terribly fake English accent(so much so that in Robin Hood: Men In Tights, they made fun of it).   I also didn't like the fact they added Morgan Freeman's character, just to be P.C.  They also had to P.C. Maid Marion's character.   I also couldn't stand  the fact that they added that witch character.     Alan Rickman gave a terrible performance as the sheriff of Nottingham.   I found it terrible all the way around.  I had to watch the 1938 version multiple times, just to recover.

Say what you like about Costner's flaky accent, but Rickman's performance in that film was spot-on - probably because he wasn't taking it too seriously.
