Indeed. I'm interested in making music, not just 'rocking out'. Not that good music can't rock, but there should be more.
I'll take a bad musician who has a passion and a hunger to play over somebody who can play circles around professionals who just wants to jam.
"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

Amid a seemingly endless stream of (internal) emotional distress, I made this one.
Ahh, here's one I just made that does reflect it. Unfortunately it isn't very good, and it sounds quite ugly at times (though this was partially on purpose), but I thought I'd share it anyway.
So little interest that you felt the need to excuse yourself for a post on the last page? ;)
Whoops.
I’ve been feeling more than a little down lately. I thought I would share something I recorded a few days ago that accurately captures the way I feel. Note that I didn’t write the song, and thus have no control over the title so don’t worry about that. Just the melancholy of it.

Something a little more pop oriented. Doesn’t metal at all. At a couple of spots, it threatens to, but it always dies back down.
No, it doesn’t really metal, but it still doesn’t feel like it pops as much as it rocks. 😉
New album I have completed. Music style is instrumental rock/metal/pop (a healthy dose of all 3, although the pop leans more to poprock) with a fair amount of ambiance thrown in. The sequence of songs is very important and I crafted the tracklist to sortof create a feeling and tell a story. All songs are covers of other songs, but the original source is not listed this time for the sole reason that many of the songs here are pulled from old SNES/PS1 games, and it just felt cheesy listing that as a source. No money is made on this however, so it’s not like I’m stealing them, and I fully admit I didn’t write any of them. If you wish to know the sources I’m more than happy to provide, I just didn’t want to put on a CD that a song came from a Mega Man game. 😃
If anybody wants a CD I’m more than happy to mail them. Alternatively I can provide digital downloads in either mp3 or lossless FLAC files. If you want to download a FLAC and make a CD out of it yourself I’m happy to send bmp’s of the artwork as well. I’ll post links to the digital downloads here before long, but if you would like mailed a physical CD, PM me. (it’s free)
Will also include a readme in the digital download detailing where all the songs are from.
PS: The disc artwork features a photo from our very own RicOlie_2. 😃
Nice pic. And nice forest too. 😉
It’s quite a nice place. I messed with colors to fit with the tone of the album though, the original is prettier honestly.
I’ve finally gotten around to uploading the mp3 version. Please download and listen! I’ve gotten good feedback from those I’ve had listen to it so far. It’s got a wide variety of styles and is quite different from the heavy metal I used to do. Some tracks are still that way, but the feeling is different.
Included is also a tracklist readme that I made that details where all the music is from. Due to a large amount of it being from video games, it felt strange to have it on the actual artwork itself, but I didn’t want to take credit so I included this.
If you would like a physical CD of this, I would be more than happy to mail it to you. Plus you get to see a photo taken by our own RicOlie_2 on the disc.
I know it’s a bit strange of me to post something new when many of you haven’t even received your current album yet, but I spent about $400 upgrading my recording gear and setup and wanted to share. It sounds so much better now, everything is much clearer and more defined, and the parts don’t fight with each other anymore.

And everyone whose waiting for their CD (which unfortunately won’t have this sound) I promise it will be soon.
Sounds great! I think you’ve got the drums better balanced than you did in some of your older songs. They blend in a bit better in this one (I guess whether that’s a good thing or not depends on the song).
Yes I got a new and much more realistic drum program. As far as the better blending only working for this type of songs, I can actually configure it so that it sounds like the drums are “hit” harder for songs that require it, but it will still sound like the same drum kit.

After listening to all three albums, I must say, there isn’t a lot of room for improvement, aside from things that are just due to the genre and that I haven’t gotten used to (like what sounds like too many layers of guitar to my ears, but I have limited exposure to that sort of thing). I noticed that “Alterations” seems to have a better balance between the drums and guitar.
I think I like The Way almost as much as Alterations. After a couple more listens, I wouldn’t be surprised if I liked it at least as much. Withering seems to have some harder metal, which I’m not as much a fan of compared to the other stuff, but I still enjoy it.
Thanks! Tomorrow I will work on getting The Way up on my soundcloud page in its entirety for anybody that wants to hear it but doesn’t care about getting an actual CD. (Although I’m more than happy to mail a CD to anybody for free)
My third album, that I released last December, is finally fully available on Soundcloud.

It’s primarily instrumental rock/metal, but also a small amount of ambient. All tracks have a symphonic accompaniment as well. There are a few video game remixes and even a couple pop songs as well. Give it a listen! If you’d like a physical copy I’m happy to mail.
Just listened in. Pretty fresh jams, dude!

Thanks I really appreciate it! I want more people to listen to it because everybody that I strongarm into hearing it usually ends up enjoying it.
Are there any sites I should try posting it on? I’ve also considered making it’s own website because even though they are instrumentals I still tried to make them ‘concept albums’ which is even more strange since they are all covers, but I consciously picked the track listing and added tone/ambiance to get a particular distinct feel for all three (four if you count the one I have done but have not yet released yet:)) of the albums. And starting with album #3 (the one you just listened to) I started incorporating songs from older video games as well as they are usually very smartly crafted to tell a story with only instruments.
I just listened to The Way, and I have to say, those are some nice sounds you play. Like, you should be selling records by the thousands, man.

I don’t want to make money… I didn’t write any of the music. It’s all covers. Very creative covers, but covers nonetheless And I’d feel bad taking any money for it. The compliments really mean a lot though guys!
Oh, I recognized a couple but not all of them. Coulda fooled me!
