I have been holding out for an NTSC '97 SE set before I tried to edit ROTJ. Thanks!!

I am downloding this now at a fast rate, I should have it down this weekend, as soon as it is done downloading I will burn it real quick and jump back on to help seed it. Thanks to all involved with this set.

Screenshots from Dark Jedi's DC transfer have been added HERE.

As you can see, it's a good letterboxed transfer with a level of detail comparable to the EditDroid and TR47 versions. Tonality is good, although perhaps white level is a little too low (shot 4). Colours are maybe a little oversaturated (shot 2), altough this is my own opinion, others may disagree. As with the TR47 version, there are some visible artefacts caused by DV chroma subsampling (shot 3).

This transfer has not been IVTCed, and is therefore encoded as 29.97 fps. Nothing fundamentally wrong with that, but a more efficient encode could have been obtained using IVTC and a 23.976 framerate.

@Moth3r: If I may make a suggestion, I think it'd be interesting to put up screenshots of the official 2004 DVDs to go along with the transfer screenshots.

Concerning the torrent on demonoid, someone could tell me why I can't find it when I search for "star wars" in the search field. It's weird... At each visit on demonoid, I search for "star wars" or "starwars" and so, I've never seen that torrent until now.
So, what is going on?

DONT search for star wars, use this "jedi/feta" and the hit apply filters and it will be the first one, that is how i check to see how many peeps are getting it.
hope this helps, and the last time i checked there was 2 seeders

Always being one with the ability to state the obvious, It'd be nice to be able to get the whole set from a.b.sw where it would only take me 5 to 6 hours to dl. After using Giganews, I can hardly bear to fire up Azureus anymore. Takes.........So.........Long.........

You can go about your business. Move along, move along.

@agr1170: I'm in the same boat. I've been at it for 7 days and am at 69.6%. Right now, it's coming down at about 7 kB/s, and I'm on a cable modem. I've already uploaded over 10 gig. I'll be patient though.

now i just hope you browse this thread again,to see this
First you need to IVTC (undo the 3:2 pulldown) to convert the 29.97 fps back to 23.976 fps. This removes the repeated fields and restores your video back to the progressive frames of the original film. (By all accounts this may take some time, as the pulldown pattern changes throughout the laserdisc -- although others have done it, I'm sure someone has a record of the change points that they would be willing to share.)

Now when you encode the 23.976 fps video, the encoder insert flags into the MPEG stream to tell the player to apply 3:2 pulldown during playback (getting you back to the NTSC framerate of 29.97 fps).

I use CCE 2.70 - older versions didn't have the 3:2 pulldown option. If you select framerate of 23.976 and make sure the output type set to is "MPEG-2 for DVD" then the 3:2 option (actually 2:3, just to be confusing) is selected automatically.
