Got home from vacation today and was very happy to see this in the big pile of mail that had accumulated! I'm going to take a look at it in a few. Many thanks for the hookup, MA!

I used to be very active on this forum. I’m not really anymore. Sometimes, people still want to get in touch with me about something, and that is great! If that describes you, please email me at [my username]ATgmailDOTcom.

Hi everybody. You’re all awesome. Keep up the good work.

MoveAlong, thanks for 'The Story of Star Wars' , I finally got home today and it was in my pile of post.

I haven't watched it ALL yet but from what I have seen it's a VERY professional looking disc! Congratulations on doing such a great job.

I am looking forward to devoting some time to watch the whole disc. And of course I can't wait for other releases from you. I love that Move Along logo too, nice job!

I have a question for ESB. For the crawl will you have it say Episode 5 or will you jsut have it say The Empire Strikes Back. I was just wondering because SW didn't have the episode number.

It will be:

Episode V
THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK

My intention for TSOSW was to have Rebel11_38 re-create the original '77 theatrical crawl. That's why there's no episode# or "A New Hope". It wasn't ANH when the album came out in '77, so it seemed more fitting to format it identically to the original crawl. Seeing as how ESB has always been labeled as Episode V, I will absolutely make it that way.

You can go about your business. Move along, move along.

Just watched this, MoveAlong. GREAT, GREAT job! I can imagine how difficult it must've been to line all the visuals up with the record, but you pulled it off perfectly. Nice idea, nice DVD design. Menus are very professional looking. Easter egg is great. It's all really incredible.

I'd consider this a must-have DVD for the collection of anyone who loves the OOT and was among the first generation of SW fans. I remember my older brother used to have this record and it was on all the time when he was playing with his SW figures, so it brought back some good memories for me.

Thanks for making this! It's brilliant! I'm looking forward to ESB and ROTJ, if you plan to do them.

Definately.

However, in practice you must take into account the “fuckwit factor”. Just talk to Darth Mallwalker…

I just got a chance to see this - great work.

I don't recall ever (owning any droids) getting to listen to this as a child, but something about it all seemed very familiar. It is a nice facet to add to the rest of the alternate views of the SW trilogy.

I too remember something similar....was the "Story of Star Wars" on a 45 or did it come on a full sized record? Because I seem to remember I had a little 45 that was about Star Wars but I can't remember what it was exactly.....

I love everybody. Lets all smoke some reefer and chill. Hug and kisses for everybody.

The 45 versions came with read-along books and were even shorter than the "Story of" LPs. They were mainly geared towards smaller children who were new to reading.

LOL I guess that descibes me.......7-8 year old learning how to read.....LOL It's all good though, it might of taken me a little while but I can read just fine now.

Thanks for the info.... I have two little sisters, let's just say it was theirs, and not mine.....LOL

The read-along releases were on either cassette or vinyl. The vinyl was 7" but 33 1/3 rpm instead of the more normal 45 rpm for that size of vinyl. That's how they squeezed around 14 minutes on to the small records.

I had the read-along versions on cassettes for the trilogy. I will always remember the line "you will know that it time to turn the page when you hear R2D2 beep, like this..." The cassettes might still be at my parents house, but I doubt I still have the books. Wish I did, might be a good project...

Great disc, MoveAlong. I had never head this record before.

Watched it all today. What a great job MoveAlong! I loved the look of it, so in keeping with the original sleeve artwork. Enjoyed the easter egg too, inspired.

Congratulations.

Some random things I really liked:
- the 20th Century Fox Records logo replacing the regular Fox fanfare
- the menus
- use of alternate subtitle colors
- the still shots for certain scenes (especially that ridiculous face Han is making as he is leading Imperials back to Yavin unknowingly - where did that come from?)

I hope that I can create something this cool, nice and professional someday.

Hey MoveaAlong. I was wondering, are you still waiting for the OUT release to start on ESB?

That's the plan, yes. I'm hoping that the OUT will be of accectable quality to use it exclusively. Unfortunately, if the rumours are true about it being pretty bad looking, I might have to use the 2004 material like I did for TSOSW, and use the OUT to get rid of most of the offensive SE material. We'll just have to wait and see.

In the mean time, I'm working on the Bounty Hunter project with Galactus. It's going to be pretty cool.

That's why I was curious, because I heard that the OUT DVD's are goning to look really bad.
Well either way I can't wait for ESB.

Could someone explain this edit to me? Is it just a shortened version of ANH or something else? I have read the first post and still don't know what it is really.

In short, back in 1977 a vinyl record and matching booklet were released telling the "Story of Star Wars"

This audio has been captured to a computer and cleaned up. This was done by Scottyballs.

MoveAlong has taken video elements of the film and edited them to synch up exactly to the words and sounds of the original record. Where the narrator is talking, he has stills that are been panned across the screen of zoomed in on.
