I'm not a huge gamer but I've always been a big fan of the Mortal Kombat franchise. MK 1, 2, and 3 are the only games I own for the Sega Genesis.

The mythology is a fun mix of Kung-Fu movies, sci-fi, sword-and-sorcery, and bloody violence. Wraiths of vengeance team with ancient gods to fight cyborg ninjas and extradimensional lizard men. It's like a middle school fever-dream.

The new MK game is coming out, and all the advertising made me nostalgic. Rewatched the first MK movie, and it sure is a lot of fun.

There was a MK TV show on in the late 90s. I never saw it, and am saddened it's not on DVD in the US. Might try to find it online.

Anybody else like the Kombat?

I did 15 years ago. The Fighting genre just doesn't have the depth to interest me anymore, I think. I just don't think I can see myself spending days on end Mortal Kombatting like I did way back when.

I love me some MK! Deadly Alliance is my favorite so far. Even the rpg on it was great! Very cool to be able to run around in the MK universe and a cool way to unlock characters and costumes for the kombat game. The story was really cool too! And of course most importantly, the kombat game was tons of fun. All my favorite old characters and some great new ones. I'm really looking forward to playing the new one soon!

I loved and still have I through III on the Genesis, but I was never very good at it...
