The original Alien is the only film in that franchise better than the original Friday the 13th.
(I do like Aliens & Alien3 by the way.)

Worser than the worst Friday the 13th maybe? That’s pretty worse - I don’t think it’s the worstest out of any of those.

There’s little chance of this new Alien movie being worse than Takes Manhattan.

Yeah, normally we’re on the same page Ray but I’ve got to agree with Frink. For me, there’s two other Alien films I’d put above the first Friday.

Don’t get too chummy with me, I’d put every Alien movie I’ve seen* above Friday.

*Have not seen Covenant or any AVP movies.

AVPR is at about the same level as the first Friday the 13th.

Covenant’s the best since Aliens.

Just setting the record straight here.

Despite having not seen AVPR, that sounds about right.

Covenant’s the best since Aliens.

Despite having not seen Covenant, that doesn’t sound right.

Granted, but I will defend the DC of Alien 3 and also Prometheus. Alien 4 maybe not, it has parts I like but some really awful parts too.

I mean I like Alien 3 (only ever seen theatrical) and Prometheus, but I don’t see why it’s hard to believe they could be topped. Especially if you’re a Prometheus fan, Covenant was basically that but better.

Probably because some people really seem to have hated it.

But I’ll see it eventually and make up my own mind. I don’t let reviews affect me in either direction.

No more so than Prometheus (in fact I’d wager far less so).

Don’t be ridiculous.

The original Friday the 13th is one of the worst Friday the 13th movies in my opinion.

FTFM

One of the worst is probably too harsh, but of the first five or six, it’s one of the most boring.

Alien: Covenant

Ouch… Covenant is for Prometheus what Prometheus is for Alien. The worst in the series and even the worst Friday the 13th

0/10

Is Alien: Covenant a crossover with the Friday the 13th series? How is it the worst Friday the 13th?

Serious question ? Really ?!? Ok, sometimes I forget how this forum works… So it’s a joke 'cause Alien: Covenant uses the alien figure as a Jason Voorhees figure (like the couple showering that gets killed, pop music included) or the poor lady who slips (twice !) on a blood puddle with a funny sound (the sort of thing you would find in Jason X or Jason Lives). It’s a way to say despite its pretentious monologues and attempts to create something as fascinating as an Alien/Blade Runner hybrid, Covenant is as dumb as any slasher movie.

AVP aren’t real Alien movies, but are closer to be real Predator movies. Very terrible Predator movies though.

(the first AVP and Prometheus however share the same script, and both are awful…)

Ah, having to explain to everybody that it was, in fact, a joke. That’s a trait of strong humor.

Alien Covenant (2017)

Only 10 minutes of this film was interesting to me.

Sounds like 10 more minutes than Friday the 13th…

“Halloween” (2007) and “Halloween 2” (2009).

I’m not a huge fan of Rob Zombie’s films and I never bothered to watch these two until now. They were both bold attempts to reimagine a dead franchise in a new way whilst still hitting enough beats from the originals to keep old fans… interested(?) Nothing seems to really work though. For all the good, there’s twice as much bad. Some great acting, some great waste of acting, some great ideas, some great waste of ideas - you get the idea.

The overall impression these films left me with is perfectly summed-up by seeing cute little moppet Danielle Harris from the earlier movies all grown up and having sex - a skanky, grimy uncomfortable experience that really just feels wrong.

Oh, and they pulled the old “it was all a dream!” trick on me again - that those scenes were one of the better parts of either movie was bad enough, that the dream itself was twenty-ish minutes long was unforgivable.

Each film earns itself 1 mark out of 5.

I haven’t seen a Rob Zombie film I’ve liked. Everything he makes feels like Last House on the Left with rednecks.
