The ones I saw in health class back in high school, (on 16mm no less!) had shots of real accident victims. I recall a few kids ran outside, as they were about to lose their cookies.
It almost pales in comparison to the horrifying puppet show I saw in the first grade about traffic safety though. 😉

Where were you in '77?

They still pull that stuff in classes. Except they’re pixelated, heavily compressed videos ripped off the internet.

Yeah. Last year we watched a common cold video that was ripped from a VHS then compressed. Part of it was a student film made by Colin Trevorrow, actually.

That kind of thing really annoys me tbh, either show something or don’t. This, “oh you can see behind this censorship is what we want to show you but we’re not allowed to so just look at this black box or pixilated mess and imagine what’s behind it…” makes no sense.

I figured by “pixelated”, he meant “pixelated from being a low-quality video taken from YouTube”.

Ah…yep. That’s exactly what he meant haha. My bad!

I hadn’t seen the original Ghostbusters until last night. Unfortunately I did see the remake in theaters because of my mom. She hated it. We all hated it. I also saw a bit of the sequel on TV recently. That was also pretty bad.

We didn’t hate this one. It was good. Actually funny without resorting to just making everyone as stupid as possible. I thought the hype would kill it for me. It didn’t.

I also realize the new casting was based on stereotypes; the ‘normal’ one, the teddy bear, the brains… and the black one. Not based on characters, on stereotypes. And that the plot of the new one is just the plot of the good one just with no explanation.

In short, it made me like the old one more and hate the new one even more.

I’m just here because I’m driving tonight.

Stereotype isn’t really the right word (more archetype) and I’m glad they didn’t base them on the original characters. There are vague similarities, but that’s where it ends. Glad we got something new in that regard.

I suppose it’s new in terms of Ghostbusters, but the sassy black lady, weirdo lesbian, and the boring and awkward intellectual are not what I’d call original or new.

Just because the archetype might be familiar doesn’t mean the characters are (as in they’re more than the archetype). My point being these aren’t the same characters that we saw in the original (which is a good thing).

Trick 'r Treat (2007)

Really enjoyed it. Great concept and pretty good execution. I liked the principal character played by Dylan Baker the most out of the characters, but I was disappointed with

SPOILERS

his demise at the hand of the werewolf women, which felt out of place.

In fact, that entire subplot was pretty stupid. But I enjoyed the movie anyway, it was quite fun.

7/10

Not enough people read the EU.

It’s a little known fact* that Trick 'r Treat happens to be the only good movie Lauren Lee Smith has ever been in.

*Little known because less than a hundred people probably know who the hell Lauren Lee Smith is.

Why did that feel out of place to you? And which subplot did you think was stupid?
The werewolf subplot makes repeated viewings very fun. Lot’s of dialog changes meaning when you know what’s really happening.
Whichever one it was, you’re wrong. But I’m interested to hear why ya feel this way. 😉
Trick r Treat is one of my favorite movies.

That was probably a throwaway joke but I’ve no clue what you’re trying to say…

No.
I’m saying he’s frustrated by pixel-mosaic censorship, a concern most appropriately addressed in the anime thread. Please google the phrase and educate yourself on the awful blight of pixel mosaic that blunts the impact of all the best anime by Imperial Decree.
You should refrain from offering joke analyses in the future.
You only make matters worse.
