Wait

The trailer and the advance reviews got me really excited about seeing this. It starts off well and the tension builds up quite effectively but ultimately it doesn’t really go anywhere. Disappointing, 3/10.

My biggest issue with Wait was the way it never ended. Worse than LOTR: ROTK and The Neverending Story combined.

I find it funny how people give Skyfall credit for having the first homosexual Bond villain when the series had a lesbian villain in 1963.

She was attracted to Bond so she wasnt lesbian. She was bi.

So the Skyfall villain is the first HOMOsexual.

I’m still waiting for the first homersexual in a Bond movie.

No, she wasn’t.

No, Diamonds Are Forever.

Still waiting for the first Bond Boy. JB is obviously an omnisexual horndog who swings every way. Wonder when they’ll have the guts to show it.

I wonder with what sex Dr. No found his sexual pleasures with. With hands like his, self gratification was most likely out of the question. We have an isolated island full of muscular guys and two old spinsters, plus a strange scene where Dr. No visits a sedated Bond and takes a peek under his bed sheets. When Honey is taken away, Dr. No tells Bond that he will let his guards rape her, yet Dr. No seems to have no interest in her at all. Did Dr. No have any mojo at all?

What about Col. Klebb in From Russia With Love? She sure gave off a lesbian vibe in that one scene.

“Sisters” Rose and Lily didn’t strike me as old spinsters. 😉

Yeah, that’s who I was referring to. She was a homosexual, Honor Blackman in Goldfinger was bisexual, and Wint and Kidd were homosexuals in Diamonds Are Forever. I’m still not sure about some characters, but Skyfall had at least the fourth homosexual and fifth or sixth LGBT character in general.

I don’t think they ever will. That would be incredibly out of character. Bond clearly has extremely high standards since he’s only ever with the most attractive women.

I’m wondering if it wasn’t sarcasm.

“X-Men: Apocalypse” I liked it on the whole but I thought it got weaker as it went on. The bad guys were all undercooked and although I adore Jennifer Lawrence and will blindly defend absolutely anything she does I just couldn’t shake the feeling she was phoning it in.

The overall plot was good (enough) but the story was filled with contrivances and unnecessary connective tissue. And I’m getting rather tired of the “man loses family and becomes consumed by vengeance only to be saved at the last minute” character arc. Please.

And then there’s the continuity. Keeping your facts straight is a task the X-Men movies find nearly impossible for some reason. In this movie I spotted two times when things didn’t add up (I’m sure there are more though) and I’ve got to say that they, more than anything else, soured the experience for me.

One problem was so major I searched the web for answers and I found that it had already been raised with one of the filmmakers:

http://www.cinemablend.com/m/new/How-X-Men-Screenwriter-Resolves-Wolverine-Mystery-From-End-Days-Future-Past-131267.html

The “answer” given in that interview is almost offensive! They seem to just write whatever fits in with what they need to happen and continuity be damned! The one positive of this is some of the wonderful fanboy justifications of the timeline and continuity issues I’ve read.

Overall, I had fun but the repetitive story beats are annoying me now and knowing that the writers just don’t care about continuity has left me feeling like I could happily say goodbye to these movies.

7/10

(and what the heck was that post-credits scene about? I shouldn’t have to read comics or use Google to make sense of it. I sat through 10 minutes of generic music for that? I want my 10 minutes back Mr. Singer!)

Ha, it’s probably for the best seeing as how James Bond has his own thread.

Yes and no.

In the simplest terms the typical Bond is an ultra heterosexual mysognistic dinosaur. You know, the ultimate in “masculinity.” So yeah the idea of Connery Bond fucking anyone but the hottest bimbos is sarcastic and completely ridiculous.

But I think if we’re being honest about how this character would be in real, modern life, it’s not quite that simple. Bond’ll fuck any woman with a pulse (it just so happens that it’s only the most attractive women who are cast in these films). The truth is, he’s a sex addict. Not to say that people who are open to more than just heterosexuality do so out of desperation from addiction, just to say that someone like Bond isn’t so exclusive. Bond (sexually) loves all (though of course emotionally loves none). I could totally see Craig Bond hook up with a dude in the next flick (don’t forget he implied he’s already done as much in Skyfall).

Far more likely than a female Bond, I think (though that would be interesting to see, Emily Blunt has my vote for the record).

He stayed away from Bibi (the figure skater) in For Your Eyes Only. I always took the Skyfall line as a joke just to f#ck with Javier Bardem. A female Bond would most likely be the most poorly received film in history.

Thank goodness for that. We don’t want the 007 remake of Lolita! 😉

Maybe I’m weird, but I feel like James Bond should just remain James Bond and people can make other characters that are what they want them to be.

Sorry, but Hank Scorpio is the closest we’ll ever get.

Honestly it wouldn’t surprise me if we get a gay Bond. The media is crazy about that stuff right now, they want everything to be gay and/or trans. I’m not saying that I’m against it but why don’t they just make their own movies and franchises instead of telling us to write in characters that they want? I’d totally go watch a gay man action franchise as long as I’m not watching sex scenes or excruciatingly annoying characters. I’m actually surprised that the wachowski brothers didn’t go that route in their films, instead they decided to do it in their sense8 netflix series.
