I watched American Pie for the first time after deliberately avoiding it for the past fifteen or so years. I hated it before I had seen it, and then I found myself laughing from start to finish, and I hated myself for laughing at it for the first few minutes or so. Then I just said, “screw it” and watched the rest with glee. I felt like I was in high school again. I have no plans for seeing any of the sequels, or any of the direct to video films either.

The first movie is pretty great. The theatrical sequels are so-so. The straight-to-DVD sequels are poor excuses for nudity.

Frink ❤️ Wang.

I sure wish there was a way to shift the location of the words. You know, so you can see the Wang.

Man, you must be a tough critic. Just out of interest, what films do you give A+ to?

He actually rated it higher than I thought he would. Personally I’d give it a B, but it’s been forever since I watched it.

If you’ve seen that episode of The Simpsons about Monty Burn’s childhood, and heard every Citizen Kane riff on MST3K, you’re probably good. 😉

Where were you in '77?

Saw The Witch yesterday and loved it. Predictably, there was some douchebag griping loudly as we left the theater about how “it wasn’t even scary” and it was "independent bullshit like It Follows" (a movie I also really dug). Honestly, horror fans are the absolute worst judges of horror movies.

EDIT: this article sums up a lot of my feelings on the subject pretty well.

Watched DEADPOOL on Sunday. Had a fucking fun time and eager to but the UHD Blu-ray/Blu-ray disc combo when it releases. Most if not for deleted scenes and more. In fact I may go see it a second time again soon.

^That’s a great article. The current state of horror fandom is sad.

Indeed. Haven’t seen the other two movies mentioned, although they do sound very interesting. But I loved the babadook. Although the ending was odd and confusing, the ride to get there was fantastic.

A Nightmare on Elm Street

Pretty good all around. The acting was pretty mixed, ranging from good (Nancy) to terrible (Tina). I was very glad when Tina got killed off early. Nobody gave a terrific performance. The teens did really stupid things at times (if you heard creepy whispering or screeching sounds, would you really go to investigate wearing nothing but pajamas?) Also, the only scene I was scared in didn’t even have Freddy in it, which was the hallway scene. I was scared during that scene because the prosthetics they lumped on Tina’s face were disturbing, and the actress who played the hall moniter really unnerved me for some reason. Overall, a 2.5-3/4. Can’t really decide. I think I will skip the others.

Not enough people read the EU.

The sad part is I’m not always sure if someone is talking about the original or a remake anymore. 😉

I still need to get around to rewatching the sequels and the remake sometime soon.

Brewster’s Millions (1985). Well, I caught the last half or so on TV. It’s okay, had some good jokes. Considering my disdain for most sports, I’m surprised I enjoyed it as much as I did, as the titular character is a semi-professional baseball player.
