I could have sworn I’ve heard about this band before. Is there any song they came out with that I probably have heard at least in passing?
There’s not a person in the world who doesn’t know this song.

Do you guys like Two Hearts? I’ve only heard a few songs.
I actually own four Heart albums. Dreamboat Annie is my favorite.

Oh, well maybe I should take a page out of your book and make it all-caps and remove the punctuation. That’ll make a terrible joke funny!
At least you’ll know it’s a joke, even if a bad one at that.

That makes no sense, as his was obviously a joke, and mine objectively aren’t bad.

Doesn’t ring any bells…good song though
Who Can It Be Now is pretty well known.

The only thing that’s depressing is that you’re mad that I don’t recognize a song that you like.

I’m sure it was made in the 80s, but is it music? I’m 50/50.

Yep, but whether you like melodic riffing is based on your taste.
I had melodic riffing once. Didn’t think the hospital was ever going to let me leave.

I don’t know, I generally prefer my melodic riffing with a bit less blood and/or devil worship.

Maiden doesn’t talk about that that often and I don’t think a band like Candlemass talks about that stuff either. You would probably like Mercyful Fate or even Show No Mercy era Slayer it were strictly instrumentals.
You’re probably right. The vocals turn a lot of people off, and I can understand that.
Diff’rent strokes though.
It’s not just the vocals; the lyrics are intense for those who aren’t used to that sort of stuff. A lot of Death Metal bands exacerbated that problem ten fold which makes a big subgenre of extreme Metal inaccessible. That’s partially why I like Morbid Angel so much because a lot of their lyrics are about the occult.

I love that bitchin’ song.
Anyway, due to my newfound interest in all things Australian, I really should listen to some more Men at Work.

Figured I should give it a listen before I said anything.
I dig that synthy 80s style quite a lot, but Two Hearts doesn’t really have that “Men at Work Magic” that Business As Usual and Cargo (to a lesser extent) had. The music isn’t bad at all, but it’s more generic and mass-produced while losing the boisterous, light-hearted fun of their first two releases. Two Hearts is more Men at Work In Name Only. Also: Where’s the sax?!
Like Cargo, Two Hearts suffers from a bit of the Ringo Starr Syndrome (who Colin Hay actually played with for a time), where they let the other guy (in this case Greg Ham, as founding member and “alternate vocalist” on Cargo Ron Strykert left the band during the recording of Two Hears) sing a couple songs, and the album suffers for it.
That said, Stay at Home, Hard Luck Story, and Snakes and Ladders are decent songs. However they lack the charm of the band’s big hits and so they don’t really feel like Men at Work songs.
Worth a listen? Maybe. Nothing really stands out as incredible though.

Settle Down My Boy and I Like To are terrible songs, but the album is redeemed by songs like Overkill and It’s a Mistake.

I think BAU is better overall but Cargo has a few songs that I’d rate higher than anything on BAU.

Yeah, definitely rating the album as a whole over the individual songs here.
