About once a week I play along with that album for fun. Learning all the songs from LZII was one of my first undertakings on guitar

You’ve seen it. Now go listen to it! And, while listening, realize that your life just got better.

It’s possible he doesn’t know what an album is.

I wouldn’t go that far. Its not like it’s sarcasm or humor.

I think he’s under the impression that albums are photographs or pictures.

This is exactly what I think of when I think “Opeth”.

Never heard of the band though.

You mean you think of the album cover when you think of the word/name “Opeth”

Yep.

Makes sense given the reflections in the album cover. They mostly play melodic stuff with singing but other times they play straight up Death Metal. One of the most dynamic bands in existence.

Wouldn’t “broken record” be a more poignant analogy?

Broken clocks are occasionally right (twice a day, to be exact); broken records simply sound horrible and suck no matter what.

Opeth - Morningrise

beautiful

You should give Insomnium a go. They are much more straightforward melodeath but they are very melodic and often have acoustic/clean sections and they just write wonderful music.
