Insert edit on a .VOB

Rather than re-transcode for 8 hours is there any easy way I can do an insert edit of some black to cover up the first 7 frames of a VOB file which has some corruption on it? (or even on the m2v files)

Thanks

There is. In fact I think there's a few ways. One would of course be with womble and copying another black screen portion of the video and just copy and pasting that over the first few frames while making sure that the audio doesn't copy over into those frames too. However, there is another way that's much better. I just can't remember the name of the program. Wait for someone else to pop in here and I'm sure you'll get the answer you're looking for.

There's also Cuttermaran. It's free. You can use it to cut and paste .m2v files (with audio) but only at I frames. Maybe you can re-encode the first scene and use that as a replacement.
Or you can just cut the first frames + audio if it's just a few black frames.

Assuming you're still using a Mac and DVD Studio Pro, try working in DVDSP's timeline. That is, cut the offending frames from the beginning of the m2v by dragging the beginning of the file itself to the right in the timeline. Then if needed render some black frames as another m2v and place it before the original m2v that you've shortened. Clear as mud?

You can go about your business. Move along, move along.

Thanks MoveAlong, I already tried that and it's way too much of a fiddle.

As it happens, I've had to re-encode after correcting some spelling mistakes.

After 7 hours of rendering remotely from my macbook, my wife put the 'remote' mac to sleep; the connection was lost and the render failed. Now starting again. I WILL get this thing finished.
