is there any kind of preservation of the out of print Silence of the Lambs criterion DVD? I’d really love to see this. If anybody here has it PM me please.

I'm always looking to trade my edits, if you don't want to get them from a torrent. PM or e-mail!

I have it too. I used to monitior www.dvdjournal.com for there OOP reports and bagged a copy as soon as it was announced. Got Robocop and This Is Spinal Tap the same way....

Silence is a brilliant disc, the simple but efffective menus, and the horrific text supplements... In my opinon it's a far superior disc to the MGM Version. Picture and sound (to me) are just better on this edition....

i have it too, it is pretty easy to come by - by that i mean it is not that expensive for OOP in the USA

there were preservations (TAME THE DEMON) but they may be seedless.

Eerrrr, are we talking about the same non-anamorphic disc? Sure, it has far better colours, but the MGM disc definetly is way more sharp. I've actually thought about doing a colour correction to the MGM ultimate edition and exchange the criterion video.

yup! Talking about the same one!!

As I don't have a Widescreen TV I had no idea about the non-anamorphicness of the image. I just prefer the colour and soundtrack of the Criterion. Better Bass too.

Yes the MGM is a crisper image, sure.. but the colour is all wrong.

Despite the fact that the colors are different, they were both approved by the cinematographer Tak Fujimoto!

Well Robocop is indeed sharper than the MGM release

What do you guys mean by preservation of an OOP dvd, just a copy?
Fez: I am so excited about Star Whores.
Hyde: Fezzy, man, it's Star Wars.

There is no preservation. It was officially released on DVD.

Then why is it on the list of preservations at the top of this very forum?

Someone SHOULD preserve the commentary and deleted scenes that didn't make it off of the OOP Criterion.

Maybe the person who prepared the list thought this thread was about the Criterion laserdisc?

Anyway, I've removed it from the list.
