Info Wanted: Panasonic LD player for doing my preservation project?

It probably would be different. It would probably be worse.

Panasonic's players are typically not rated nearly as highly as Pioneer's. Depends on the model (check out the Laserdisc Archive), but in general Pioneer's the way to go.

From everything I've read, sometimes a particular manufacturer dominates a particular market. For laserdisc players, it was Pioneer.

Similarly, if you're looking for a VHS deck (pro or consumer) then you shouldn't consider anything other than Panasonic or JVC.

Then there's the Technics SL1210 - the industry standard DJ turntable, and the Shure SM58 is the most popular vocal microphone. But I digress...

That model is actually a pretty natty machine, I'd like to see some captures from it. Panasonic went all out with that model, it was their 'prefessional broadcast' mode, and consequently it has a BNC output, serial port for PC control and they developed some nice noise processing. I'd be interested to see how it compares.
Panasonic actually made a MUSE player as well. I can't remember the model#

I'm curious, how do you know about this? I haven't found much if any such praise for this particular model on the web.
