I watched several interviews in which George Lucas said that his original intention was for the OT to be one movie but 20th Century Fox didn’t let that happen. I was considering making an edit of the OT to fit this, similar to The Phantom Edit. Before I do it, though, and consume countless storage on my laptop, has this already been done?

You really believe that the ENTIRE ORIGINAL TRILOGY was supposed, back in 1974-1977, to be a single movie ?!?
I don’t know where you’ve read that (but it’s possible you’ve heard some bullshit like that, because GL never tells the truth), but there is absolutely no proof to suppot such a theory.

I did one a while back called “The Star Wars Monology”. Unfortunately my computer crashed and broke down, losing all of my files in the process before I was able to give it a final polish and post it on the spleen.
One day I hope to revisit it and start again from scratch, but I have other projects that are higher on my priority list in the meantime.

Cursory search of fanedit.org/ifdb doesn’t turn up any fanedits that are a single, OT-combining film except The Man Behind The Mask’s “Star Wars 30’s Serial Edition: Part 2”, which has no voices.
I do recall at one point watching a fanedit that combined all 6 films into one long one, but I don’t now remember what it was called and it wasn’t very good. The flash-forward segments which transitioned from one prequel to the next were jarring; and the OT moments flew by so quickly I kept wanting it to slow down and take time to flesh out the OT story more.
