But he's only up to Part 9, of which I downloaded via Download Helper. In fact, I downloaded all the Parts. Handy Firefox add-on device for the browser. Ok, looking at when RogerRamjet uploaded Part 9, which was 5 days ago, it appears he's still working on this. Speaking of the 1930's/1940's cliffhanger serials, anyone want to take the endeavour of "preserving" the ones which inspired Indiana Jones? Including the film The Secret of the Incas? Alot of the serials might/might not be in the public domain.
I'm not sure how many of those old serials are out on DVD. (I had to special order just to get all of Flash Gordon and Buck Rogers!) I do recall seeing several other serials released on Laserdisc.
I'm really itching to see Secret of the Incas. It's apparently never had a proper video release. Given it's supposed to be a major influence on Raiders, (Charlton Heston even dresses a lot like Indy!) you'd think it would be out there already.

I'm thinking Paramount has the home video/DVD rights to Secret of the Incas. It'd be a one-two punch releasing SotI when KotCS is released. Could even have a banner on it which says, "The film which inspired Raiders of the Lost Ark!" Hell, I honestly did enjoy KotCS and alot of companies could get their films out on DVD which heavily influenced RotLA. I'm also talking about CHINA and alot of other adventure films. If alot of these aren't released, might as well have some preservation of some sort. My only two major gripes with KotCS is the running time, which shoulda clocked in at around 130m AND the LED countdown on the rocketsled shoulda been a Nixie-tube styled one. Well, maybe a third... I was fully expecting a change of pace from the desert/jungle locales and more of the cold weather environment. Lost Horizon anyone? I'll give my Complete Making of Book and write notes for myself which serials inspired Indiana Jones. Might even rent them via Netflix after my current rental. Of which is currently Mission: Impossible Seasons 2 and 3.
