With The Punisher (the one with John Travolta) it is even worse in Germany: It was cut according to the normal US theatrical release. The german DVD with the "uncut" Theatrical Version containes the cutted german theatrical Release. The uncut international Released was released as "Extended Version" in Germnany, wich is definitfly not the US Extended Version.

In Germany so called "uncut" Versions are ofen just the normal international release, because of some locally special cutted Versions.

The normal 'uncut' Verison of Total Recall was also indiziert in germany, so there was a cutted Version rated FSK16. This happens and happend a lot.

The best german languaged ressource, if a german Version is cut or uncut is www.ofdb.de sometimes it also gives informations if its a specially extended Version, or a us unrated Version or r-rated. But it normally focus on german standards. r-rated and unrated versions both count as uncut in Germany, normally.

BTW: the unrated DVD from Kinowelt was running time 106:41 min. the r-rated release was 106:36 min . Maybe there is a third "unrated" version? Here is a german comparison between the old german uncut (r-rated) Version and the longer Kinowelt release. (Kinowelt also released a normal r-rated Version years ago)

MrBrown do you know anything about this Blu Ray release of the Rambo Trilogy?.

http://www.amazon.de/Rambo-Trilogy-Ultimate-Uncut-Blu-ray/dp/B004X4SDC6/ref=lh_ni_t

It says the movies are uncut and they all seem longer than the U.K. releases ,First Blood in the U.K. is 89 minutes this version says its 96 minutes, but i think the U.S. release is also 96 minutes, can anyone in the U.S. confirm this?.

This set also seems to have a lot more extras, the U.K. releases only have an interview with Stallone on each disc.

The Running Time of First Blood is about 94 min. The German Video stream seems just about 7 seconds longer than the UK Optimum Release. Seem to Be just Studio Logo. Take alook at caps-a-holic. In the HD Section are image comparisons with the New German Studio Canal Release and the US Release.

Austria got a BD release of "Warlock" (from 1989). It's Region B. It's the first time the uncut (compared to German languaged VHS and Theatrical releases) r-rated (so normal US DVD Version) Version is released in German. AFAIK it is the first BD release of this movie worldwide.

It's released by NSM Records (so, the expectations are somebit low), at least it is not mpeg-2 encoded, it is AVC encoded.

It's released in a BD & DVD Combo Mediabook with a 12 paged inlay. A comparison between the BD and the also included DVD Version will be up at caps-a-holic soon (I would say this weekend). The price is a bit annoying with about € 30. Maybe some single Disc releases follow one day, after the (not numbered, and no limitation number given) limited Mediabook.

No subtitles are on the Discs and following audio tracks are on the BD:

DTS-HD Master Audio English 1802 kbps 2.0 / 48 kHz / 1802 kbps / 16-bit (DTS Core: 2.0 / 48 kHz / 1509 kbps / 16-bit)
DTS-HD Master Audio German 1077 kbps 2.0 / 48 kHz / 1077 kbps / 16-bit (DTS Core: 2.0 / 48 kHz / 768 kbps / 16-bit)

Okay, Warlock BD comparison online.

BD seems not be worth the price. So, even if its cool that this movie is out, we have to wait for some american lable to get a good transfer.

Or you can just look for:

Warlock 1989 720p HDTV DD5 1 x264 CRiSC

Which is something I've noticed... it is the same in regards to the recent release of SCANNERS on blu-ray in Germany as compared to the MGM-HD HDTV release.  The German blu looks like a bad DVD upconvert, whereas the MGM-HD version is crystal clear (to the point that I never knew blood was shooting out of Cameron's veins during the final psychic fight at the end).

Sometimes I still find things that seem not to be released that way in USA.

Today I checked informations on George A. Romeros Classic "The Crazies" which recently got released in USA by BlueUnderground on Blu.

In Germany there was a 2 DVD Disc limited Edition (1500 pcs.) in the year 2008 containing:

- commentary by George A. Romero and William Lustig

- commentary by Lynn Lowry and Thomas Kerpen

and on the second Disc:

- "The Mute Hippie Girl on Acid with Rabies" - A Interview with Lynn Lowry running time about 46 minutes

..at least the audiocommentary with Lynn Lowry seems to be a germany only feature (but it is stated to be in english with german subs), but I don't know if the Lynn Lowry Interview is the same as on the US Blu ...

I just got Pakt Der Wolfe(Brotherhood of The Wolf) from a German Blu-ray Group Buy and it has the regular cut and director's cut, I can't wait to watch this one, I was looking at the French version but I hate reading my movies, this one has English DTS-HD MA 5.1 on it.

Plus it has a great looking lenticular slip box on it, very nice packaging.

This reminds me, I've been wondering: is the PAL / NTSC difference still exists on Blu Rays ?

... I hate having movies running faster. That problem really sucks.

No but some are still region coded(A,B,C,etc.) and standard definition extras still could be in PAL\NTSC, so they still have ways to mess with us.

Some smaller Labels, at least in Germany and Austria, issue Movies sometimes in 1080i/50Hz with PAL Speed. Exsample is the Uncut bd Release of "Laid to Rest" with excactly the Same Running Time As the according PAL DVD.

I hate to call back to some older discussions, but I remember it got a bit confusing there.

What are the best versions of the Transporter films (as far as film content)?

From what I can tell:

Transporter 1 - Japan R2 for being NTSC, DTS and having the 2 extended fight scenes.  (Although a fan edit with all extended fight scenes would be better.)

Transporter 2 - France R2 for being uncut and with the improved CGI.

Transporter 3 - Any version.

Sound about right?

Transporter 1: seems to be the japanese DVD

Germany has the extended cut of Transporter 2 on DVD OFDB Info. Called "Director's Cut". Running Time in PAL: 90:24 Min while French DVD has a PAL running time of 84:30 Min.  http://www.movie-censorship.com/report.php?ID=1875776 Here is listed whats more in german "Director's Cut" Version.

Transporter 3: right.

Thanks, I was under the impression that the extended German version was only a TV broadcast not a disc release.

Now to track them down...

I dont' know if "Cemetary Man" (Dellamorte Dellamore) is out on blu in USA, but I think it is not.

Well, there is a german BD from '84 Entertainment with English and german audio and german subs and no bonus, and there is a Bd from italy with english and italian audio and much italian languaged bonus features.

Both Discs are region B.. and.. the German Disc hat real bad PQ.. compared to the italian BD.

IF you want to buy the movie, don't buy the german disc!

To give an update to the German CEMETARY MAN (DELLAMORTE DELLAMORE) blu-ray, I can confirm that it is Region ALL, not B (had a friend play this on his US region A blu-ray player).

I thought it looked pretty good, though some of you would probably complain about filtering (even though there was grain to it, with an image comparable to some earlier Blue Underground blu releases.  I will agree that the italian blu looks better).  I can also confirm that there are no forced subtitles.

First it was only a TV Version. Later ist was on Blu and DVD only in a newly released Trilogy Box Set. But After some time it also was released as single Disc releases on Blu and DVD. So you Even get it on BD in Hd. Both extended DVD and Bd are labeled as "Director's Cut".

New "Other Release as US" Report:
The norsk Bd Release of the 2004 Dawn of the Dead Release is Stated to be uncensored regarding the naked breasts Scene. I ordernd it at Amazon.co.uk and will Report, if this is true.

The Norsk BD of "Dawn of the Dead" (2004) arrived today, and I just checked the Scene with the topless woman, and.. long story short: It is uncensored!

The Norsk release (Finland, Norway, Dansk and Sweden) got an other Master than the censored universal master!

I will post some caps for quality check here soonm, and a BD Info scan.

Does anyone has the US BD of Dawn of the Dead 2004 for bitrate check?
