No, I think that's an eye.

Yeah, it really reminds me of Mad Max deaths.

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

I hope Ady will forgive my rough vandalism but if his bridge shot can't be used in ESB:R maybe it could be reworked for a ROTJ edit, either as a set up for The Executor approaching the Death Star or Vader musing on the landing of the Tydirium.

I really like that shot, it's a shame ady won't be using it in ESB:R. Hopefully it might make a return in RotJ:R though...

I know it would be impossible to do, but would it not be pretty cool to use a similar shot as above, but with the bridge on fire as we see from the bridge windows the DS2 coming up as the Executor plummeted into it?

Having recently spent many snowy evenings watching the sun sink fast, I've noticed the light conditions do resemble those of the otherwise awful DVD version of the Hoth scenes.

While I'm loving the the fresh tint free snows of ESB:R another editor might like to employ intelligent blue shifting to the tint free evening shots (maybe making the blue shift more notable as the evening came on) for the scenes after the ice-cave.

It shouldn't be just a blanket tint though as I'm sure area illuminated by Luke's light saber would appear brighter and maybe a different hue of blue than the general location.

It would also make the bright white snow of the morning after really stand out.

Which would make sense, being that snow is made of the same water that is in the atmosphere, which helps (along with the nitrogen and oxygen) to give the sky it's blue color to begin with (due to light refracting off of the N, H and O molecules).  In a duskish setting, ambient light is going to be refracted from the snow, which is going to refract the same light wavelength as the sky itself on a clear day for the same exact reasons.

But Ady is keeping the snow blue in these shots, just not the sick overblown blue of the 2004 DVD.

The snow is back to natural white, any blue you see is natural icy blue.

Not for the evening scenes it isn't. The colouring that was on the AVCHD & 1980 reconstruction isn't the same as it will be in ESB:R, but it won't be the blanket cyan mess that is the 2004 DVD. And the clip on Youtube bleached out most of the blue in the clip i posted. Only the facebook version kept the true colour

Youtube really does screw uploaded video.

I have the same problem with Skydrive screwing up colours on the still images I post but it's not really a problem as they tend to be illustrating basic ideas rather than specific details.

I mentioned it though because over the last few weeks up her in Scotland where the sun sinks very quickly this time of year the snow looks very blue in the evening (sometimes as blue as the hideous DVD version but obviously not a blanket tint).

Possibly too blue for what you have in mind but it does look interesting which is why I posted it here rather than on your thread.

I love this shot too, but I'd rather see it in Jedi than in Empire. Jedi needs more spicing up.

I had a quick thought the other day. How about when Vader/Anakin dies in ROTJ on the Death Star Hanger, he disappears just like Obi and Yoda.

If I understood it right, disappearing when dying was some "advanced Force ability" Qui-Gon learned after dying... His spirit taught Yoda and Yoda taught Obi-Wan... So Vader/Anakin simply didn´t know how to do that. To explain how he shows up as spirit along Yoda and Obi-Wan, the theory/EU is that he had some quick lessons on the afterlife or something like that... :)

What can be done to make Yoda's dialog in ROTJ clearer? I showed the trilogy to a first timer awhile back and she couldn't understand a word he said in Jedi but had no problem understanding him in Empire. I had to put the subtitles on for that scene. I've been watching it since it's release, so I guess I'm accustomed to what he says, but listening again with fresh ears, she's right, it's very difficult to understand. I dunno if it's the DVD sound that makes it hard to hear or if it's always been that way and I've just deciphered it over the years, but it really is horrible. Anybody else have this problem?

Agreed. I also showed ROTJ to a first time viewer, and I realized how difficult it is to understand Yoda, particularly during his dying scene.
