There have already been suggestions of reconstructing deleted or unfilmed concepts like the Vader choke scene, the scorched Endor move (where Palpatine orders him to destroy the moon if the shield is shut down) etc.

And even to have him target the Executor to try to shoot it down before it can impact on the station.

It may be possible to create more off screen presence for the character if appropriate dialogue can be found elsewhere.

Ooo.  That sounds interesting.  I'd love to see what people manage to put together.

As a general point Double O Five keeps updating the suggestions list so it makes sense to pop over there and have a read ever so often to get a feel for some of the ideas that have been posted here in the past.

Well here is my first mockup in about a week. This is just a tinker at ROTJ DUEL. After seeing the sun behind cloud city I just had to do that in ROTJ. This i made reminds me of blade runner and was my influence in the colouring. It was fun but hard so I don't think it will work in motion.

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

it would be pretty intense if a sun was visible, or the explosion of the executor giving a blinding light perhaps? the blinding light could be used to one of the combatants advantages?

Well by the time the Executor exploded into the Death Star II, the shield was down by then and the Emperor was thrown down that shaft by Vader - so the duel would have been over.

It could be some other kind of explosion like an additional rebel ship blowing up perhaps.

good point! ill face palm myself later!:P

it would be cool having dark/light contrasting alot within the throne room perhaps. add drama perhaps, like luke is ascending the stairs to the emperor, who is shrouded in a white purifying energy. i dont know.:P what if the star of endor is brightly visible throughout the battle? dark/light contrasts would be visible throughout the battle with the silhouettes?

Hehe :)

Anyway you have a pretty good point about having some form of dark/light contrast; it would definitely add to the swirling emotions of the duel. As the planet orbits the Death Star there shoud be a change of contrast within the throne room. Great idea ben_danger :)

some mockup ideas based along the idea of having the star visable and generating dark/light contrasts.

They seem so . . . extreme, and remind me of "Sin City."

While I don't think they'd be appropriate for Adywan's edits, I can see them working in a few edits I know of that are taking the trilogy in a different direction.  Star Wars: Renascent comes to mind.  In that respect, I'm completely open to them.  Oh yeah, and I do recognize that these are just mock-ups at this point.

EDIT:
On an unrelated note, why are all my post times reading an hour behind what they should?  I have the appropriate time zone selected in my preferences.

Well I wouldn't have the star that close because it would burn everything and be way too bright for too long. But adding any light whatsoever would definetely make the duel scene more epic. But a star would have to be pretty far away or endor wouldn't be worth living on.

thats very true. i was more playing on the dramatic rather than logical ideas. also i only saw the original next to the editted when posting them here, so i agree, they are a tad extreme!:P

could the gas giant glow?

I would definetely be up to seeing The emperors throne room in more than 2 colours LOL. I am sick of the blues. It would be neat for a sun to be behind endor and cause an eclipse in the middle of their duel. I like your mockup a whole lot. It is a good start. I would just like to let the audience know that there is a sun. In the scenes where it is night on endor it should be dark in the emperors throne room. In scenes were it is day it should at least be bright. But it still doesnt work. Were the rebels are, they can see the death star. When it is day on Endor a sun should be behind the death star but wouldnt that at some point coz an artificial eclipse (which would have been neat if they had used it) I beleive that the death star is hoovering around endor staying near its shield generator. I dunno. Just any new ideas LOL. We can toss these ideas towards ady when ROTJ R gets started. But keep up the brain juice because we are getting somewhere.

the big change i want to see in ROTJ is for it to round of the SAGA better. it works alright for the trilogy, but not for all the films. visually it should be the ultimate clash between good and evil.

im not sure if people agree, but if in AOTC:R we see Jabba as a seperatist goon, with some battle droids, then maybe seeing a couple of rusty droids in ROTJ:R in his palace would just add an air of rememberance to the whole 1st part of the film, almost like luke is closing the last few loose ends.

Definitely. This movie should have those pit of the stomach moments. We as viewers needed to fear for the lives of our heroes. There was tension at the end of the first 2 films. Return Of The Jedi there was really no rebel losses. The imperials went out like bitches. I hope ady makes the fleet very large and we get to see 2 tie fighters to every rebel ship. We need to see some xwings blowing up like crazy. I want to see the millenium falcon having a hard time shaking off the ties on its rear. Little things like that will make it alot better. The film though happy and fun, isnt going to have the problems the prequels have. ROTJ is the opposite of the prequels. ROTJ has good acting no high tension moments. The prequels had horrible acting and had alot of high tension moments. So ROTJ can be saved.

It reminds me of Sin City actually. BD's looks like Sin City and mine looks like 300 LOL. But we need to do something. Work your magic Angel. Add a sun to the background of the throne room. You can do it.

I was thinking that someone should do a mock-up of the Executor being more closer to the Death Star II, with the whole battle raging on right near it. We've seen quite a lot of the Throne Room, though we could do with some more to see which of them are the best :)

Oh and btw EyeShotFirst, your post was at '11:38AM' according to my time zone (though it's an hour early for some reason). But still a nice unintentional THX reference all the same :)

The star mockup looks very interesting ben, perhaps you could maintain more colour by trying other star types (red giant, blue giant, red dwarf, etc).

The Endor system could be a solar system towards the end of it's life so the heat an expanding star could have reached the rocky moons of the outer gas giants (like Europa or Titan warming up if our sun expanded beyond the range of Earth's orbit).

It make me laugh

all the work ady & others have done to correct the colours on the SE & then a mockup like that is posted LOL

Would this quickie be sufficient. Notice the window now has sheilds LOL.

I got the window online and tweaked it a bit. . For the movie someone should just do a new matte.
