Info: Bad news for anybody wanting to use the deleted scenes in a TFA fanedit or extended edition — Page 3

I have bought the blu-ray, ripped everything, and the deleted scenes have burnt-in timecodes.
But in one of the Deleted Scenes, 4. Snowspeeder Chase looked like a really rough edit, it looked like some 5th Grader created that scene with Blender. And was not fully rendered, almost like a matte painting. You may need to edit that scene and just make it smooth, again, burnt-in timecodes, so it is not easy.

Yeah I watched that scene too (someone posted it on Instagram) and it looked really rough.

The deleted scenes are out there… Timecode confirmed. Effects seem to be finished, but not always good.

Only the Kylo aboard the falcon scene has finished effects. All the others, including the snowspeeder chase have very rough effects, more like an animatic stage. It’s strange seeing the x-wings with red markings instead of the blue. And how the hell did they get aboard the Falcon when the whole one side of the ship outside is seen to be buried? We see Kylo coming up the ramp, but thats blocked

This is why you are Adywan - colour of the X-wings and the buried ramp didn’t even occur to me - you have a good eye for detail!

Are we absolutely sure that this is it as far as deleted scenes? Has there been any talk of a later re-release on Blu-ray at a future time? I do not want to invest my time trying to remove the Time code if they will have a later cleaner release.

It seems that JJ Binks has ruled out an extended cut.

But from the Collider Interview it seems as though some of the VFX chiefs want an extended cut… That’s what comes across in that video that they wanted all the shots done and put out. Just because I suppose that is part of what they do.

The Best possible deleted scene I have read about is the Rey being hunted down by the Alien that they stole the Falcon off. She tries to use her gun and get’s disarmed. This is in Maz’s castle. Chewie then rips one of his arms off and throws it on a table where some aliens are playing a game.

Weather or not this was filmed this is the sort of thing extended cut’s are made of. I would wait a bit. Even one of the visual effects chiefs said he would sign a petition. So there you go. There is willing within Lucusfilm (the mouse house) but they don’t have final say.

could be a game of cat and mouse…

I don’t think that’s a deleted scene but it is in the novelization.

Yeah that was what it said I was just hoping because that made my day!

But if they filmed it that really would be something. You never know.

How could you get the disc ahead of the street date?

Some people have been receiving their discs early. The discs have been in some stores wharehouses for a few weeks now. Someone i know on facebook sent me theirs so i didn’t have to wait the extra 2 weeks that us UK fans have to wait to buy and watch it. I watched both discs yesterday and sent it back today. I did see that the deleted scenes have now appeared on facebook, but they aren’t in the same order that they are on the blu-ray. The docs are pretty good, if a bit too short and don’t really focus enough on the making of the film. Too many talking heads. But it is still a great set that will be taking pride of place in my collection on the 18th April when it’s released here in the UK.

Guys,
There might be some grain of hope. I checked out the trailer for the deleted shots and this will sound crazy but as long as there are previous frames of the background info where the time code is not covering it could be removed with Mocha Pro’s remove Module. I do not use the remove tool too much so I will have to take a refresher coarse on it, but it is very doable…

This video demonstrates how powerful this software is. So I believe it is possible to do this.

Sounds promising but unfortunately the only scene that seems worth having in a fanedit is Finn and the villager. I haven’t seen the one with Maz displaying her Force Abilities as of yet.

And unfortunately it doesn’t look like any one is going to get to see that. The extra deleted scene thats available digitally is just the beginning of that scene and is basically just han solo and some very forced humour

Can anyone try to explain to me why they would only include part of a deleted scene that is only available digitally? I can’t even wrap my mind around that.

Reminds me of microtransactions or something

Well if they continue to make good Star Wars films stuff like this won’t bother me too much but damn that’s petty…

Welcome to the world of Disney.

And exactly how long did we have to wait to get any deleted scenes under Uncle George’s regime? 21 years, and then it was only 3 on a CD rom. Before we got deleted scenes on a home release of the OT , it was 34 years after the film came out.

Yes, the deleted scenes are a little disappointing in their content, length and presentation, but maybe we might get some more when the 3D version comes out later. At least that way it’s not just the same old double/ tripple etc etc dipping we got almost every year or two from George.
