I don't really understand your question. Are you asking if we will ever build and operate craft such as X-Wings or Star Destroyers? If its that, then the answer is no, as everything in Star Wars violates the laws of physics (assuming we know all there is to know about the laws of physics).

Gentlemen, you can’t fight in here, this is the war room!

In no point did he ever say anything remotely close to that.

A long, long, time ago, in a galaxy far, far away.
“Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.” — Nazi Reich Marshal Hermann Goering

There was a "real" Star Wars. Look up Reagan's National strategic defense program.

I don't think that's what he was asking. The Star Wars defense system was just a name. It had nothing to do with anything from the films.

And yeah, Lucas never said anything like that.

I think that, logically, the way the human race is, if we ever conquer the heavens, we will eventually wage war in them. Whether or not the battles of those wars will resemble the battles of Star Wars, I can't say, although I do belive that one day space travel will be alot easier and more commonplace, and the idea of a small one-man spacecraft like an X-Wing is not beyond the realms of possibility.

However, in his first post SW says he would like to see real Star Wars. I most certainly would not like to see that.

War does not make one great.

Given a nearly infinite amount of time and planets with intelligent life... I'd still go with "no".

In 1998 NASA launched a probe called 'Deep Space 1'. This probe was powered by an ion engine - as used in imperial TIE fighters.
