I read one theory that posited that the humans we see in Star Wars were abducted from the Roanoke Colony. It’s silly and far-fetched, but I do think it’s a possibility that the SW humans are descended from Earth humans. Perhaps they found another galaxy as they were exploring the final frontier and colonized it. Either that, or it’s an extraordinary case of convergent evolution.

I feel as though this is overthinking it all.

I feel as though that applies to most of the posts in this thread.

And seeded by the demon Croatoan, no doubt.

Honestly, by the time I saw Dooku use the lightning I wasn’t at all fazed because I’d used it myself in however many video games. If you need someone to blame for lightning not being unique to the Emperor, blame Kyle Katarn.

EDIT: Holy shit, there’s five pages of this?! Sorry if this is no longer relevant, it was on the page where I clicked “reply”.

No, you’re definitely correct. Force lightning was devalued by video games long before AOTC… but the more I think about it, the more it annoys me that the Emperor uses what had come to be regarded as a pretty basic Sith ability.

I never once played a video game with force lightning (unless it was in Gauntlet?) but I still was annoyed by Dooku doing it.

So would you like it better if they kept the force lightning unique to the emporer but all siths had a power unique to them? Like maybe Darth Maul could shoot fire outta his hands. Dooku could conjure water from the air and dirt and splash it in peoples faces. Or should all Siths be powerless and only the Emporer should have it cause he’s so evil.

Emperor

Also you should have stopped right there. The other stuff is nonsense.

That’s Avatar, not Star Wars.
(Not the dumb movie about the blue girl. The dumb cartoon about the bald boy.)

The Emperor should be the only Sith in a long time that should be able to turn someone to ash with Force Lightning but other Force Wielders should be able tp use but not as effectively.

EDIT:

I think I said this before but if Snoke literally pulls powers out of his ass because he reached Supreme Evil-doer Level 57 the lot of you wouldn’t like it.

Well, if you only count OT then you can say it’s a power exclusive to his species. Nowhere in the movies does it say emporer is a human.

His face tell me that.

EDIT:

Also the fact that the Empire is only comprised of humans tells me that as well.

There’s actually a scene where Darth Vader hires some alien bounty hunters. With Emperor’s powers you don’t think he could rise above humans and rule them? In the ST a alien is above The new darth vader, whatever his name is. Adam Driver.

He… does rule? He rules the galaxy. It’s why he’s called “The Emperor”.

I was talking to Haseo. He didn’t think a alien could rule humans.

That’s outside help. They’re working with The Empire not for them

With Emperor’s powers you don’t think he could rise above humans and rule them?

I suppose but it would seem weird that of out of the thousands of species in the Galaxy an alien would choose one to run 99 percent of The Empire.

What about Shredder being a ninja and the rest of his soldiers being robots, or some guys with guns? You don’t have to be the same as the people under you to lead.

Shredder didn’t rule a galaxy or a planet. I get what you’re trying to say but it’s apples and oranges.

The Empire is made up exclusively of white male humans. The Rebellion is made up of multi-racial human males and females and all kinds of aliens. You can cite any EU book or whatever to show that this isn’t true, but in the films it’s a device clearly used for symbolism. There’s nothing in the films to point to the Emperor being anything other than a white human male.
…Except for when he’s a female human with monkey eyes. But that’s another story.

Chewie aside, the rebellion didn’t have an alien in their ranks until ROTJ.

Now I’m not going to argue that the Emperor isn’t different looking because he’s an evil wizard - that’s obviously the intention. But there really is nothing in the film to suggest he couldn’t be an alien. In fact, he looks quite a bit like some of the rebel aliens (prune faces).

I like the Empire-as-specieist idea, and it fits, but it’s not a part of the films’ text. He’ll who’s to say the storm troopers aren’t aliens?
