Was doing a reading for a class and without warning encountered the r-slur. Despicable, repugnant and antiquated.

But, context matters. What was the context of the usage of the word in said book? If it was an old book and used in a strictly medical context non-maliciously, then you need to keep the book in the context of the time period as way back when, the word was used mostly medically and the stigma surrounding said word was not present, and it was not considered a slur in that context.

I don’t know what JadedSkywalker said before that this message is replying to as he deleted it, but I agree a lot with this reply. Political polarization is very big in the United States, and many times the far-left radicalizes people to the far-right, and vice-versa.

I myself was rather infamously far-left back in 2020/2021, harbouring extremely negative views on gender roles, Britain, sex, ect., but have since stabilized to around centre-right and hold far more nuanced and even positive views on said topics. I genuinely can’t look at those 2020-1 posts because of how cringe-worthy they are now for 2024 me.

Nuance is dead in politics, and yet is the magic word for political ideological harmony.

I could go on about where I think this all comes from, but the site rules do not allow political debate, so I will end this little mini-essay here.

Connecting with people is hard. Especially because I dont really know who I am, and what I want from life. At the moment it feels like all I want is one other person to hang on to and spent my evenings with. Someone who is just as weird as me. Then again, that’d probably be a really shitty codependent and unhealty situation to be in. Like something the greeks would write a comedy about.
On the other hand, I’m stuck in almost precisely this situation except that I’m alone and that I feel unable to change that. Primarily due to the fact that I don’t know how to be “me” around other people. And that I feel completely out of place wherever I go. Anyways, I should probably go to bed now. (I should have probably done so before instead of writing this perveted excess of a diary entry on the internet, whatever, life is weird)

Nice! I am in the same boat really. Not much interested in Star Wars content other than the KOTOR 2 video game which I play once every year. I suppose I am still interested in dissecting the past content still.

DNR and AI scrubbed the films of ALL grain and added motion smoothing and a bunch of other things. Then when he got criticized for it, he told his fans “get a life and move out your mom’s basement,” which was an incredibly low blow.

Whatever the reason, as with Lucas and Jackson, we’re not getting proper versions of his films while he’s still alive.

Warners was gauging interest in THX for 4K, I think the George Lucas director’s cut was done in 2k probably if not 1080P how could they do that in 4K?

I want Willow, there is already a stunning release on Disney plus in 4K I just want a physical disc copy. Don’t want Lucas to get his hands on it.

There was a local 35mm screening of American Graffiti a few miles from me a few weeks who. Wish I’d gone now.
