If you had to include one character/location from the PT in the ST

Let’s say that Lucas put something in his contract with Disney that they had to include at least one character or location from the Prequel Trilogy in the Sequel Trilogy. Which character/location would you prefer that they include?

I would like Jar Jar on Jakuu.

I wouldn’t mind seeing Naboo again. Especially if they can actually make it look like people are living there, unlike the empty cities of the PT.
As long as there’s nothing that makes watching or even knowing about the PT required to understand why we are there or what’s going on, I’m fine with it.

To not address what is going on in Coruscant is daft. The Republic being one one easy to destroy mega city would have been weak so while there was something quite daring in leading us to believe Hosnia was that big important PT location I’m glad in a way they didn’t demolish it but if the original Jedi temple exists it would have resonance for either the heroes or the villains to take ownership of the place where Anakin took his first steps into a much larger world, even if it does remind us of how boring and stupid and weird the mechanisms of the old republic were before the Emperor swept them away.

Pretty much this. I can’t think of a character I would want to include from that era…especially Mace Windu. Sorry Sam…

Well, Windu is dead, so…

Character:
19 + 3 + 1 + 32 = 55 years. If a human character, should have been young during ROTS; if an alien it does not really matter. Maybe a batch of clone troopers with untouched aging; the last batch of the Clone Wars having been left dormant and then forgot somewhere, like Khan and friends in the Star Trek tv series episode. I remember there was a story about that in a postlogy book. Was this in the Thrawn trilogy ?
It’s quite hard because main characters of the PT are Jedi and politicians, most of them being killed during the Empire events. Old Watto then ? The character has filled his purpose. Hum… why not a Battle Droid with free will ? Could be quite cute.

Location:
Naboo seems like a fair choice. Coruscant should eventually been seen or at least mentioned. Could also be fun to see more of Kashyyyk (technically it first appeared in TSWHS).

Not been keeping up with the news lately? According to George and Bad Motherfucking Samuel, Mace Windu is alive and well.

I actually do think, if his performance in Hateful Eight is any indication, Jackson could pull off an old, jaded badass Mace Windu quite well. The problem with the character in the prequels was the material he was given and Lucas’s direction, it wasn’t his fault. That said, I think this would fit better in an anthology film (especially a Boba Fett anthology film, seeing as Mace killed his dad) than in the ST. In fact, I think that could work quite well. Set it between trilogies and it’s plausible Mace would still be alive (set it after the OT and he would be pretty damn old), and it would also help explain his absence from the OT. (If Boba kills him…)

In the ST, yes, I agree Coruscant is likely to appear and I wouldn’t have a problem with that at all either. Honestly, I didn’t have a problem with any of the locations in the prequels - Naboo, Kamino, it’s all good. The creative and visually striking environments were some of their few redeeming qualities.

As far as characters go… Well, uh, most everybody is either dead or was in the OT anyway so I don’t really know how to answer that.

How is Mace even alive? He got… this:

If Darth Maul can survive getting sliced in half and falling down a bottomless pit (which I think is dumb, mind you, but like it or not it is canon), if Anakin can survive getting all his limbs cut off and third degree burns over 100% of his body, if Boba Fett can survive getting digested by a sand monster, I think Mace can survive getting his hand cut off and getting tossed out a window. Considering that is pretty much exactly what happened to Luke in ESB. And considering he is a powerful Jedi and I don’t find it that hard to believe he could use the force to grab onto a ledge or land on some speeder flying by below. I wasn’t convinced he was dead seeing the scene for the first time.

Then why is Luke getting tortured by the Emperor’s lightning hands a big deal?

Because he is torturing him to death? I mean, he did survive it you know. But the Emperor was deliberately killing him in the slowest and most painful way possible. So I don’t think the fact that Mace got a comparatively much shorter blast of lightning proves he’s dead.

To me they are equivalent.

So… In that case you agree then that Mace is alive? Because otherwise Luke would be dead. I don’t think you exactly thought this logic through.

The only thing that stopped look from dying was Vader’s sacrifice. There was no sacrifice in the case of Windu, so he’s dead.

I haven’t seen any PT movie in over ten years, but I remember Windoo getting MUCH less lighting than Luke. And other characters jumped outta windows like that in the PT and, through silly antics Looney Toons would be embarrassed of, survived. Windoo living through that attack fits right in with the PT.

The Emperor was killing Luke slow to torture him. Windu got a full blast.

It seems like people are really embracing the new characters. In fact, the big question people ask me now about Star Wars is, “Are Finn and Poe gay lovers?” And really how the f*ck would I know? My second husband left me for a man, so my gaydar isn’t exactly what you’d call Death Star level quality. ----Carrie Fisher

If Windu didn’t die, what has he been doing all these years ? Was he eventually killed by Vader or the Inquisitors ?
