How do you feel about the saga continuing after RotJ?
I like it.
I understand a happy ending override was inevitable, and I suppose we can go on without Yoda or Anakin/Vader. The problem is Palpatine being dead. He was always the main villain in the saga (even if it was offscreen in the early movies). Continuing past that feels like a post-script season. I can think of a few solutions, but none of them seem easy.
Make Snoke Palpatine. That would take away from Vader’s sacrifice.
Introduce some bigger bad whose in charge of both Snoke and Palpatine. That would feel incredibly contrived and inevitably lead to power creep.
Make Snoke a radically different villain. They don’t seem to be going that way, but at this stage, it’s hard to tell. In the end, the problem with this is that your heroes and villains are pretty set in stone by the whole light side dark side dichotomy. You can make their personalities different, but I can’t see them becoming as diverse as the villains in Batman or Doctor Who.

I as well also like it.
You probably don’t recognize me because of the red arm.
Episode 9 Rewrite, The Starlight Project (Released!) and ANH Technicolor Project (Released!)

I as we’ll also like it.
First misread it this way and got super confused.
I also like it too as well.
Alright, we’re all agreed. Mods please close thread.
Palpatine . . . was always the main villain in the saga
What? Who the hell watches Star Wars, or even TESB, and sees the Emperor as the “main villain.”
I would put this in my sig if I weren’t so lazy.

He was retroactively made into the big bad.

I’m afraid you all missed the point. Of course I’m happy the saga’s continuing. I want to know how you feel about continuing it without Palpatine. I probably should’ve said in the title, but I didn’t realize that would be my one big point.

I actually have had this same train of thought regarding palpatine, and the conclusion I arrived at was “eh”. I liked TFA and I’ll probably like TLJ.
It is horribly bad so far.

Oh. In that case. . . .
Return of the Jedi is a lamentably awful ending to what the first two started and then the PT happened. I didn’t want the majority of these films to be so bad. I wanted more good to balance things more. The Force Awakens had the characters right but the story was too derivative. Rogue One was pretty good. Fan edits have improved both. I would like a final final episode of the numbered series. Something more satisfying than the awfulness of ROTJ. So I don’t mind. I have had such a difficult romance with the series that I just wish it well but I don’t think I want it’s babies anymore.
That got weird.

Got weird? We haven’t yet started to got weird.
He is wearing his grandmother’s clothes. I am not judging him.
Oh. In that case. . . .
I swear that looks like he’s saying something else. He doesn’t look disinterested. He looks scared and desperate.

I like it because the movies are good. I wouldn’t have liked it if they weren’t good.

I suppose it works better in its proper context.

So you aren’t capable of liking Troll 2 or The Room.
Greatly depends on the last jedi and episode 9. On how they handle Luke, and how the force works. But I’ve seen nothing that discourages me from thinking that the sequel trilogy will be very good.

I’m afraid you missed the joke.
