Help: looking for... Newsgroups Availability of the Moth3r DVDs

Anyone know a friend with the Moth3r original trilogy and they’re willing to post all 3 on a.b.starwars ?

I’ve been looking and all the links I’ve encountered have long been dead.

I actually own the Faces Original Trilogy NTSC laserdiscs, but I’ve never come close to seeing the quality of the Moth3r image samples elsewhere on this forum !!

Thanks!

That grumpy old git hasn't been the same since he metamorphosized into a cartoonized stressful book reading characterization...

Sorry... I'm new here, but I read the old thread about the Moth3r laserdisc rips.

When that discussion was still really going I think I still was stuck with 56k or 384k DSL.

Now with 25 Mbps fiber optic service and a newsgroup account, I'd like to catch up if someone could PM me the details : a.b.starwars or a.b.repost ?

search engines like binsearch.info will help you determine what group.

In another thread Moth3r wondered what my 'archive' might look like.
Well it's a cluttered cupboard to be sure, but...

Today I should finish posting the Cowclops trilogy, and those go back in the box.
In the very same box, right beside them literally, are Moth3's PAL DVDs.
Is it mere coincidence ?

However, in practice you must take into account the “fuckwit factor”. Just talk to Darth Mallwalker…

Thanks man.

Would appreciate any post of your PAL dvds.

I checked out your older "Starwars-4.5.6.AC3.5.1.WS.LaserDisc.Xvid" pack, but there's a A/V sync problem with those old 2003 .avi's.

They play back about 5ms off base, and my A/V receiver can only fine-tune in 10ms steps.

Great AC3 soundtrack dump there, though.

Gotta respect the AC3 LaserDisc's and their soundtrack mixes.

Re: AVIs all I can say is
that's exactly the way I found them.

Is it your impression those are proper AC3 rips?

Way back when max_rebo was gathering sources for his 97SE project, he listened to that and thought it to be an upmix.

Listening to the AC3 mix on those laserdisc SE rips was the first time I heard that well-imaged and "three dimensional" dialog on my home 5.1 system.

Maybe they created the effect with software sourcing only the original 2.0 mix?

If these do get re-uploaded, don't forget to apply the audio fix before burning.

I got the V1.0 ISO files released in 2005. So that's what I'd repost.
I'm having none of this the way I would've done it back in '05, if I'd known then what I know now drivel you're spewing.
If fan editors want to apply your 'original vision' after downloading, they're welcome to it ;)

Can you dig it, foganime?

ok.

I came here to get the Moth3r discs, so if you could post them that would be great.

The Cowclops pack had some NTSC encoder errors (green shadows), so if Moth3r doesn't,  it's worth the download to me.

It's hard to nitpick when you're using analog source video from 1993.

The fact that there's more than 1 release shows that someone thought that there was even more room for improvement in the process I guess.

Actually, I think I used the IMG extension. The disc image was built with ImgTool Classic, IIRC.

Anyway, you mean to tell me you don't have the original RARs? I'm disappointed in you, Mallwalker. I'm wondering if this software has any mileage with respect to DVDR releases.

No RARs and never heard of ReScene, but I've got almost the next-best thing
a text view of the original RAR's metadata:

http://img100.imageshack.us/img100/3297/metai.png

We can see the CRC value that was stored in the original metadata, as well as the IMG filename & timestamp.
Made that using 'unrar v' command (to view contents) then redirect stdout to a text file.

I'm disappointed in me too, because I cannot find the BMP cover
Almost certainly would've DL'ed it, maybe put it 'elsewhere' from the rest. Doh!
I will include the TIF cover.

A stock xterm, and either a stock Bourne shell (or ash/dash) or ksh...?

"Right now the coffees are doing their final work." (Airi, Masked Rider Den-o episode 1)

bash, but it's invoked using /bin/sh link so it behaves more like old-school Bourne

Wow, just wow. Thanks for uploading the Moth3r ROTJ - the PQ on that is the best I've seen yet, from LD to DVD. This is now one of my favourite versions of ROTJ I can add to my collection - definitely a keeper.

Now anxious to see ANH and ESB. 8)

Thanks for ROtJ, but man, that audio hiss & pop is annoying.

Why wasn't the original 1993 laserdisc audio track kept?

Because Moth3r doesn't speak French ?

Thank you, Darth Mallwalker!  I am downloading ROTJ now. :-)

I assume the audio fix doesn't improve this.  Is there no other audio that can be synchronized to this?  If there isn't and the video looks as good as people say, I might try to synchronize the PAL GOUT audio to it.

Thanks for reposting these DM.

Some notes from what I can remember:

Audio for all three came from my 1995 VHS tapes. I did run the audio files through a click/pop removal filter, but I may have reduced the strength of the filtering for RoTJ thinking it wasn't necessary.

Surprised to see comments on the PQ for RoTJ - although this disc has the best colour, it's also the softest image and looks a little blurred.

Known flaws are listed here:

I really should get on and do a V2.

I haven't seen the others, but your ROTJ is easily the best LDRip I have watched - in fact I feel inclined to say, there seems to be more detail in parts than the GOUT DVD.

So, if ROTJ is the softest/weakest of the 3 you have done, then I really, really look forward to seeing the other two. 8)

Thanks for posting the moth3r AnH DVD!

You can still almost see David Prowse's eyes at 48:40 in the light glare through his mask.  I noticed this first in the HDTV SE version.

That's amazing at this 440i resolution.
