Help Wanted: uploading the Wookie Groomer Split-Screen on Google Video?

Yes I am back. But here’s the catch: I’m avoiding the off-topic forum. Just here to talk about Star Wars and its preservation.

Now on topic:
I would like to try and upload Wookie Groomer’s Split-Screen Comparisons on Google Video. I don’t care if they get deleted or not, I’d just like to try it out. But here’s the problem: The DVD ripper I use (Ahead DVD Ripper) cuts off in the middle of the movie and then goes badly out-of-sync, and there’s no way I can fix it.

What’s the best DVD ripper I can use to rip the videos without a problem?

Anyone want to take bets on how long this project lasts?

You might be able to try AutoGK?

I haven't used it myself, I use mencoder, but supposedly it's simple enough and works well.

QFT.

I used to be very active on this forum. I’m not really anymore. Sometimes, people still want to get in touch with me about something, and that is great! If that describes you, please email me at [my username]ATgmailDOTcom.

Hi everybody. You’re all awesome. Keep up the good work.

Welcome back, ZigFried! Glad to see you again. This would be a neat project. I've not done any ripping like what you are talking about, but I wanted to express enthusiasm for your project as my Wookie Groomer ANH is corrupt. I would love to be able to reference the movie.

Yes, AutoGK every time. Even I can use it to make xvids and divxs. I never saw this comparison before, heard loads about it, can't wait to see it !!

AutoGK...

SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It didn't do anything! So I used Xilisoft DVD Ripper Platinum instead, which seems to work quite well.

EDIT:
Xilisoft did the job. ANH is complete, ripping ESB now...

OK, all 3 videos have finished ripping. I shall upload them now...

You wanna give us links or should we find these ourselves?

I'll PM you links when they're uploaded.

Now listen: I'm on a 56k connection right now, and the videos are over 1000MB each. So I must wait until I go home for a holiday when I can upload them on my Broadband connection...

EDIT:
Unless you know of a good WMV Compressor.

any update?

I love everybody. Lets all smoke some reefer and chill. Hug and kisses for everybody.

Well I'd like a program that reduces the size of the WMV videos, but I can't find one anywhere. Any help would be appreciated. Otherwise you have to wait until Spring Break.

C'Mon People, the sooner we get a good video compressor, the sooner we can get this uploaded!

Good idea. Should have thought of that before...

Why not just compress the DVDs to DivX instead of WMV?

I'll try that. The reason I used WMV was because it's usually smaller than the other formats.

You could also try compressing them to H.264. That'll give you really small file sizes.

What's H.264? And does the Google Video Uploader support it?
Author

As far as I know, H.264 is essentially a hi-def codec, but it seems to work for making small files out of large videos. It might work, since H.264 can be encoded inside a .mov file. Basically, H.264 is a codec, but you can put it inside an avi or mov container.

All right, I'll give it a try. Where can I find it?
