Exorcist II: The Heretic. ;)

All joking aside, I prefer Exorcist II to the original. I've always found the original heavy-handed and lacking in subtlety, and I just plain don't like Satan as a villain, so the movie's never held all that much appeal for me.

Yes it's a joke, but I don't think anybody will actually get the reference. ;)

I'm sorry, but Ghostbusters 2 is terrible. Among all the other problems it has, it's just flat out unfunny.

Putting it on the same level as the original is crazy talk.

All IYHO, of course. =P

Personally, I wouldn't put it anywhere near the same level as the original -- it's far too woefully unoriginal to reach those heights -- but I still think it has enough good moments to save it from being downright terrible.

Sorry, what I stated regarding Ghostbusters and the sequel is verifiable fact.

I like Hot Shots Part Deux better than the first... but I like jungle action movies more than I like Top Gun ;)

 TRUE.

Besides others mentioned I would like to add Army of Darkness, Anchorman 2, Monsters University, Christmas Vacation, Shrek 2, and 22 Jump Street.

Since when is BTTF a comedy?

BTTF is hard to categorize but I think comedy is probably no better than third on the list.  I don't care what someone wrote on the back of the box.  It's funny in many parts, but not a comedy.

What I remember of the hoopla around the film back in 1985, was that it was considered a comedy. Note there's a movie critic quote there too?

They are making a mallrats 2 I've heard.  Considering Mallrats wasn't even very good, I don't see why.  Of all the movies Jay and Silent Bob are in, (and I love those two characters) that's easily my least favorite.  I'd much rather see clerks 3, or Dogma 2 (although Dogma 1 wasn't ENTIRELY a comedy, but it was mostly one I guess.)

Interesting, I heard they were making Clerks 3.

There are some good ones here that I had completely forgotten about.  Hot Shots and Gremlins are two sequels that are as good as the originals in there on way if you ask me.

Sadly I found Airplane 2 to be dull except for Shatner's bit.

Ghostbusters 2 just felt like a depressing retread of the first film that undid the happy ending of that one.  I really don't want my comedies to depress me and that is what the opening of Ghostbusters 2 does every time I watch it so I just avoid it these days.

I've looked into your theories and have done a large amount of research myself and It all checks out-
Ghostbusters 2  was a disappointing piece of crap in 1989 and it smells even worse now.

Actually I heard that too, but then I heard it was Mallrats 2 instead.  I don't know which to believe, but I definitely know which I want to believe!

I want to believe that Kevin Smith is going into retirement and will never make a movie ever again. =P

Why?

Have you seen his recent movies?

That and he comes off as a jerk who is completely full of himself.

I confess that Clerks 2 is the most recent smith movie I've seen.  Dogma was I think 99? But it was a good enough movie to warrant a career.

And I watched a stand up thing with him and Jason Mewes (Jay from this movies if you weren't aware) and although Jay was way funnier than smith, I didn't find Smith to be unlikable.

So what? He doesn't go to your homes and force his films on you.
Why should something cease to exist just because it's not your brand of humor or you think the creator is smug?

Every time I see a bad movie all I can think of is the fact that every year tons of good scripts are rejected to make room for movies like this.  Not to mention that avoiding a bad movie is really hard when Hollywood places a dozen ads for the thing in our faces on ever street corner then days.  Not to mention with Kevin Smith his fans tend to force you to listen to them quote the movies over and over again.  So between pushy marketing and a fan base that will force me to spend the rest of my life watching them reinact the movies I am not allowed to just avoid them so I think I have every right not to want to see any more made.

Everyone has film series or works of a director that they would rather not see continue, Kevin Smith is one of mine.

So one of the reasons you don't like Kevin Smith's movies is because it generated a really strong fanbase?  It makes sense that you like it here now, because we NEVER quote movies around here.
