For years I thought the GOUT was OK. I grew up watching 2nd generation VHS tapes, so I wasn't too picky about the less than stellar image.

Then the Blu Ray debacle lately just got me fed up with Star Wars releases, and all the poo that George Lucas makes us go through.

So I DLed this edit, and Star Wars DeSpecialized.

OH MY GOD!!!!! Thank you SO much for your effort Harmy. They absolutely ROCK!!!!!!!!!! WoooHoooo!!!!!!!!!!

Suffice to say, I enjoyed them.

Thank you, being able to watch unmolested versions of the films in HD is by itself very rewarding but reading comments like this makes it more than worth all the work I put in :-)

So I was watching Harmy's 'Empire' earlier today and think I saw a TIE bomber or two in the first fleet scene, when we hear the Imperial March for the first time? Were  those always there? Cuz I don't remember that?

It was recomposited in 2004, but it was there.

Hey Harmy! Just wanted to say what a legend you are for your work on the project - I've downloaded Star Wars and it near brought a tear to my eye seeing everything back to the original in such amazing quality. Outstanding. If you are ever in London let me know I'll buy you a few beers! I'm trying to download the latest ESB edition you did but for the life of me I can't seem to find the proper link. Would you be so kind as to repost where I can download? Thanks again mate - you are a total star, good luck on the future edits!

FINALLY got around to watching Empire Despecialized. I can finally retire my VHS of Empire. It was like it was when I was a kid, only in HD. Thank you so very much.

Now I gotta clear a day to watch Jedi.

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

I didn't think I would ever be able to enjoy Star Wars again after the passed month, but Harmy's Empire brought my love back.

Oh, Sorry! :o  I was unaware that you had an empire.  I thought Lucas was the only one with one of those. ;)

You're not going to fix every grammatical error you come across, are you?

Seriously, to see my favorite film of all time in this quality, in it's original, un-raped form, it was freaking surreal.  Harmy, again, i seriously can't thank you enough.

I'll be having a viewing party to celebrate next Friday, for sure.  And by celebrate, i mean mourn.

Well, v1.2 of STAR WARS is indeed being worked on now but it won't be done for quite a while and I do plan to do v2.0 of ESB but that's months down the line.

First off thank you very much for the despecialized trilogy.  I have downloaded all 3 and have watched the first 30 min or so of Star Wars.  If Vader were to see these I believe his response would be, "Impressive.  Most impressive."  I did have two quick questions:

1. What are the current versions of these edits?  I'd like to write them on the discs that way I can tell if a newer version comes out.

2. If you do decide to go through with an updated ESB, will you use the .x264-DON (2004 SE) as the source?  I noticed you used that as the source for both SW and ROTJ, but not ESB...

Author

1. The current versions are all v1.0

2. I would use the same source I used before (Ady's 14GB mkv).

Ok, thanks.  With all the talk of 1.2 for SW and 2.0 for ESB, I was thinking they were currently 1.1 and 1.9 or something along those lines.  Thanks again for the great release.  I haven't been on here since the Dr Gonzo and TR47 days, amazing how much progress has been made over the years.

No, it's just that for SW I'm just tweaking the current edit, while with ESB I'll be starting from scratch, colour correction and all.
