Hello all!

I have a few questions about older versions and plans for future versions of the the Despecialized trilogy as a whole.

Would this be a good thread to use, or is there another place better suited to that more generalized topic than the Star Wars thread?

I think this is the right place.

This one is probably a reasonable place if it’s not specific to ESB or Rotj.

Hi guys,

Nope. It is about all three. And I haven’t found anyone discussing this, so I’ll go ahead and ask here.

I’m wondering about continued access to 720p versions, even after possible future releases of 1080p versions.

When ROTJ 2.5 was released, the links to 1.0 were removed from tehparadox.

That’s all well and good, since they were both 720 and 2.5 was more polished. But I’m concerned that if work on 3.0 1080p versions is completed somewhere down the line, that the links to the 2.5s will be gone and people will lose access to the 720p versions. And that might be a headache for those of us wanting to make DVDs instead of Blu-rays.

So if that were to happen, are there any plans to maintain a publicly posted list (similar to HanDuet’s list at https://goo.gl/5Sif60) but with 2.5 links even after 3.0’s are out?

And if not, will the 2.5 rars at least still be posted on uloz, mega, etc as long as we save the links?

Thanks!

Well, once I go 1080p, the MKV version will be 1080p BD50 sized, then maybe also a 1080p BD25 and then a 720p AVCHD - I think 7GB is just not enough for quality 1080p, so the AVCHD version will still be 720p and there will probably be a DVD5, as usual.

I’m positive that the 3.0’s will be available in 720p, and DVD-5, so the 2.5 set will be largely obsolete at that point.

EDIT: The head man beat me to it. 😄

Well, Harmy could easily make the 3.0 MKV 1080p, but the AVCHD 720p. In fact, that’d make a lot of sense, since the AVCHD encode is so bitrate-limited that 720p might even look nicer. So 3.0 being 1080p might just mean business as usual for people who want 720p-on-DVD. I wouldn’t panic until it happens. And if it happens, good-quality re-encodes will certainly appear (as will bad ones, as usual).

EDIT: Damn I type slow.

Whether they’re on paradox or not, the issue is indeed that people need to maintain those links, which can be a lot of work.

For SW, the difference for 3.0 is going to be much more than simply the resolution. But regardless, I’m sure there will be multiple versions available, just like there are several formats of 2.5.

The issue of archiving old editions is another matter. This Star Wars scene has a strong enough following that private trackers are likely to be a good option, or requesting a someone send it as a favor. People archive old versions of everything, but it’s mostly for a sort of scene nostalgia, or for future conparisons and things like that. Most people would probably agree that subsequent releases are absolutely upgrades and render the old ones obsolete.

Edit: fourth place, no medal.

WOW! Thank you all for your answers!

I feel like a kid at a baseball game, and four of the star players just tipped their hats to me.

(smiley face)

But just to clarify, if I were to want to download a previous version after a newer version had been released, as long as I still have all the rar links, I’d just re-download it the same way I had the first time, correct?

Yes. But I just want to inform you that those links are taken down constantly in some cases. The links that you’ll find on some tehparadox uploads are often only active because someone is actively responding to requests to re-upload and fix broken links. That might not always be the case, and I’m not sure how Harmy’s preferred file lockers are with retention, but I just thought I’d let you know not to expect something stay active once it’s outdated.

If you want something, grab it while you are able to.

First of all Harmy, thanks for your job.

I’ve red about this error in an older post, so i hope you could give me a solution.
I’ve found an error in the spanish audio. Between the minutes 1:16 to 1:20 (+ or -) the audio track changes from castilian spanish to latin spanish … as you can imagine it is quite anoying.

Once again … thank you so much for this work
(and sorry for my english).

Made a similar post in the Negative one thread, but this is asking something slightly different, so I am posting it here:

I am a Mac user. I have a Mac pro 1,1 running OS 10.7.5

I just installed an internal Blu-ray burner into said Mac Pro.

What is the best way to burn existing BDMV/Certificate folders to blu-ray disc properly on a Mac?

I see Leawo has what is supposedly decent software. is that the way to go or is there something better?

I was also referred to TS Muxer, but I can’t seem to get that to open on my Mac without crashing.

I have no intention of buying a PC, nor do I want to put these on USB drives or stream.

Any suggestions?

Feel free to PM me to avoid cluttering up the thread 😃

I recall there being a tsmuxer crashing problem with certain versions of OSX, which could be fixed by removing a certain Korean font. Googling some combination of those terms should get you to the solution (if it’s the same problem you’re having).

Yeah, after download, it won’t launch. It just automatically crashes. I will try that though, thanks!
