Info: Definitive Collection Laserdisc - single back page art search

With all the excitement about the upcoming release of the Blu-ray editions, I became interested in trying to find the best available version of the original trilogy. I’m sure there is much discussion on this website about that!!!

Anyway, I was able to obtain a very reasonably priced laserdisc box set of the Star Wars Trilogy The Definitive Collection on eBay. It was missing the book, but I ordered a used copy of it (Creative Impulse) from AbeBooks, but it does appear to me that the laserdisc set originally came with a square color page with program details which (I am guessing) was on the back of the box under the shrink wrap.

It would be great to find an original copy of this art, but next to that I was hoping that someone here could scan their copy so I can keep it with the box set to try to make it more complete. I am very grateful to anyone who can help me.

By the way, the art that I am looking for is above. It is a very low resolution copy of what I’m trying to find.)

Thank you for your concern about email addresses and spambots! I agree that it could be potentially annoying for me to be the recipient of lots of spam and that I am risking that by putting my email address on this forum! I already get LOTS of email that I don't want to receive since I've had that aol account email since about 1996. If I did suddenly get so much more spam than I do get now it would give me incentive to get with the year 2008 and get a gmail account once and for all;-)

Anyway... I'm still hoping that someone would scan the page I'm looking for so that I can make a decent print out of it to add with my "new" laserdisc set of Star Wars. I watched all of "New Hope" along with the 2004 DVD (simultaneously) and it was very interesting to see the changes/ additions. In almost every case the CGI was distracting, but in some moments it was fun to see new scenery dropped into the movie or new angles of planets. It was so advanced for 1977 that sometimes I thought I was watching "improvements" on the 2004 DVD, but then I would look at the laserdisc monitor and see that, no, that is what it looked like in 1977. 

When someone helps me out I will certainly go back and remove my email address. No need to keep it here;-)

But, silly me, I think I made more work for myself than I needed to buy watching the Definitive Collection Laserdisc "New Hope" side by side with the 2004 DVD. It seems that the 2008 DVD made a transfer of basically this same laserdisc version. 

Is that true?

I ordered a used copy but haven't received it yet.

In the meantime, I'm NOW interested in "The Making of Star Wars" from 1977 narrated by William Conrad. I found it at a couple places online including youtube, but I'd like to get the VHS that it is supposedly on. Not sure what year THAT was available. I do gather that it was re-released on VHS around 1995 with a different narration. I'm not interested in that;-)

Any ideas where to look? I just want to put a copy of it on DVD-R.

Funny, the used Star Wars Trilogy DVDs came today;-) Are you sure they were not 2008? The writing is very tiny, and my eyes can't read that tiny writing as good as they used to, but I think it says 2008.

Anyway... those 3 links look great and I will check them all out carefully.

update: I tried all 3 links and couldn't get one to work;( But a search on this site does show me that (at least in 2005) someone put Making of Star Wars on DVD along with other material for people to download. I'm looking at eBay for the laserdisc or VHS and not finding anything right now, but I see there have been recent sales of those items.

I now see that the 2008 DVD Trilogy that I just got was originally from 2006, when each film was sold separately. 

The first link I looked at was from your last message, the link to GOUT.

Of course I had to compare the Definitive Collection laserdisc of "New Hope" to the 2006 GOUT. As the link explains it does seem to be true that the GOUT DVD is the same source material that was put on the laserdisc; the same transfer (except, of course, the opening text where "Episode IV - A New Hope" was removed). All of the film flaws seem to be the same- the same dirt or deterioration marks or nicks. I'm not sure exactly what to call them, but it mostly seems the same.

Except for one big mark on the DVD at 33:22. When Obi-Wan says "...your father's lightsaber. This is the weapon of a Jedi Knight" the shot changes then there is a big white blip on the very far right of the frame (and in the middle). This is not exactly on the laserdisc. On the laserdisc there is a vague mark in the same place but it almost completely unnoticeable. It looks more like a slightly discolored blip.  

If the other links are as detailed as GOUT it will take me some time to thoroughly read them;-)

I just wanted to post an update her about the scan I was looking for (the 1 sheet of program details found on the back of the Star Wars Trilogy Definitive Collection laserdisc box set). Thanks to JediTray I got the scan I was looking for.
