Thanks guys :-)

Yeah. After seeing the great clean-up job Laserschwert did on Puggo's PSB sample, I asked him if he could clean up the JSC flyby shot for me. He sent me a few versions with different settings and I finished the clean-up in AE and then I had a smear-free version, which was cleaner looking then the GOUT, so I didn't use GOUT at all. I also tweaked the colours of the JSC clip and then used it as a chroma layer for the whole shot to make the colours more even.

I don’t know if it’s better quality but I still have an X9 capture of the JSC. If you want to use it for your project you can have it.

Hyde: Fezzy, man, it's Star Wars.

In what format is this capture? Any chance you could upload that Mos Eisley shot?

This one was from your V8, Arnie.d, but to be honest, I don't think it could get much better, though I'll be happy to be proven wrong.

I'd just like to play with that shot starting at it's original resolution (I guess 720x576?)... the one I've cleaned up for Harmy was already upscaled to 720p, and I'd like to find out if the upscale looks better when I clean it up BEFORE that step...

It could make quite a big difference, raw cap from an X9 vs mpeg2 encode from V8, especially if the X9 don't have the color smear the V8 had.

I have said it before and I will say it again, I think you would get really nice results with your great AfterEffects skills if someone capped relevant parts from the old pan & scan LD's, the '85 standard play comes to mind. But then the capture needs to be a really good one of course.

We want you to be aware that we have no plans—now or in the future—to restore the earlier versions.

Sincerely, Lynne Hale publicity@lucasfilm.com

It's huffyuv .avi (yuy2). I'll send you a link when I upload the shot.

It's 720x480 at 29.97 fps so IVTC is needed.

Slight tangent - Wow, I had no idea that the X9 captures were finished. I would LOVE to see them properly completed and released by someone. The old 4:3 interlaced DarkSega caps are still the only publicly available versions of the JSCs of ESB and ROTJ...

OK, it would be great if you could do that Jan, I'll just switch the sources and try to re-render using that :-)

It looks like I could get a bit more detail out of this one... but the colors are different, so just switching sources won't be enough ;-)

Hey Harmy, I noticed this shot at the very end of your recent YouTube upload. I assume this is a work in progress and obviously won't appear like this... but just wanted to bring it to your attention.

I know this may come across as bold although I don't intend it to be taken that way, but I am curious if there is anyone online here who would burn Harmy's DE onto BD for me.  I live in a fairly remote part of Montana and no one here even knows what a "fan edit" is and blu ray is just now picking up.

So, if anyone can help out a fellow Star Wars fan, send me a PM and we can work out the details.  And Harmy, thanks for what you did and what you continue to do, these are awesome!!

I haven't been able to download the DE trilogy either and I'm not nearly as savvy with software as with hardware.  Any help appreciated if you'll pm me.

Thanks

Are there any other shot were the JSC was used? What about Empire or Jedi?

I don't think you'll find many people here are burning blu-rays for these, they were designed to fit on a dual-layered dvd which almost any dvd burner can handle these days. Any one care to post a link where quality blank dl dvds can be bought online in the U.S?

imgburn is the program of choice to do the burning and it's free.

If that's not your problem and it's the actual download it couldn't be simpler. Post a request for an invite to myspleen which I guess is easier to get a grasp on than jdownloader.

As for a generous member here posting you a physical copy in the mail, I'm sure someone may come along eventually, but it won't be me as I don't reside in the same country as you.

I don't mind burning the DL-DVDs and posting them to people. I've sent PMs to the two people that posted asking already, so if anyone wants copies, PM me. :)

I buy my DL-DVDs at Staples, but I'm sure Best Buy would have them as well.

Appreciate the kind offer, pm forthcoming!

I believe so. I use Memorex because they're cheaper...

Oh, don't do that. Alongside Verbatim, I sometimes use Sony DVD-DL and those are ok but never Memorex - every single Memorex CD/DVD I ever burned stopped working after a relatively short time.

Really? I've never had any trouble, but that is only so far... I guess I'll be buying Verbatims from now on.

It looks like Staples only carries the +R, is that OK? I seem to remember that -R is better for some reason.
