Harmy if we get this disc stuck in our ask what do we do then? I ask because I accidentally got mine stuck in my ass.

Ask?

Seriously, how does one get something stuck in their ask?

I'm just asking.

You're gonna have to stick another one up there to get that one out. Like with jujy fruits or gummy bears.

What does Saturday morning children's television have anything to do with it?

It would've been way better if you said you were just assing.

The whole "stick another one up there to get that one out" is an old wives' tale. I spent a month there one night.

Try switching the site to Czech, I don't know why but for some reason that seems to work.

Someone get the Czech Republic on the horn and tell them it makes no sense to have a question mark in the middle of a word.

If this country replaced foreign people with question marks Texas' population would be 93% question marks, and that would be outrageous.

Hello, I'm a new poster, but long time Star Wars fan. I've been watching the poor quality theatrical DVDs for years and would LOVE to see these in HD. Would anyone be kind enough to send me the complete files for the latest Harmy's Star Wars Despecialized HD version and also for the latest Harmy's The Empire Strikes Back Despecialized HD version? With my internet set up, it will literally take 4+ days per file to download. This makes it practically impossible, since there are 4 files per film, I believe.

I will pay for the DVDs, shipping, your time, and any other expenses. And can PayPal immediately. I reside in IL. Thank you for all of the help!

When I was first downloading STAR WARS in 1080p from torrent back in 08, it took me over a month per movie. Just saying...

I'm pretty sure discussion of paying for the DVDs and someone's "time" is against the forum rules.  I believe all you are supposed to pay for is the cost of blanks and postage.

Lol, I suspect he was just trying to be courteous. It would only be a problem if someone actually charged for more than the cost of blank media and shipping.

I do agree with harmy though - 4 days is not 'practically impossible'. Get a spleen invite from walkingdork or dark_jedi instead of downloading it from this Czech fileshare site and it'll go faster (there are 12+ seeds right now)

dark_jedi, I've sent you a PM :)

I would like to keep it legal, if someone is willing to help me I will pay for the blank DVD discs, shipping, PayPal fee, etc. Just the expenses only.

I can try downloading from the place that has the 12+ seeds, how do I get this spleen invite? Also, does this place have both films? Star Wars and Empire Strikes Back? Thanks!

I downloaded it and just finished watching it and I have a couple of critical comments. (I watched the DVD version)

First, overall it was a far better viewing experience than watching the 2004 DVD edition. The colors look normal and it feels like the Star Wars I've always wanted on DVD. And it is anamorphic like it should be unlike the 2006 DVD.

That said, there are two glitches at the beginning. The CG Tatooine was restored with the matte painting Tatooine except for where the escape pod is headed for the surface. Second, the 2004 DVD has a serious color correction error that has not been fixed. When C-3PO is standing in front of the giant snake skeleton, the area under his right arm is green. It is supposed to match the sand in color and does in all the other VHS and LD versions and the 2006 DVD.

A couple of minor points - several of the shots of Luke on Tatooine (especially the one where he find Owen and Beru) look washed out and gray.

I was also disappointed that the fixed lightsabers during the duel had been unfixed, but that is a personal preference. At least Anakin/Luke's saber was blue! That is probably one of the single most annoying things about the 2004 DVD.

As far as the soundtrack, I was disappointed that it was the 2006 DVD stereo track, not the 1977 mono or the 1993 VHS/LD surround. Even Ben Burt has commented that the original 1977 stereo track wasn't done very well (and he did it).

I actually find this pretty funny, but it is not just Texas.

C'mon, guys, there a politics thread in off topic.

yotsuyahis :

The issues you bring up are so minor, that I wouldn't be doing anything about them even if I was to make a new version. In fact I'm not even sure they are actual issues (005, msycamore?).

As to the soundtrack, you are very far off the track. The sound on the NTSC DVD is hairy_hen's 5.1 reconstruction of the 1977 70mm 6 track audio.

And if you want the mixes that you mentioned, just download the HD version - it has 6 different audios. The S(hit)D(ef) DVD version was never a primary goal of this edit and as such, it can't really be used as a reference point (although Chewtobacca did a great job converting it as usual).
