I noticed during a recent rewatch that Cassian has a line implying that he’s never been in prison.

CHIRRUT: Relax, Captain.

We’ve been in worse cages than this one.

CASSIAN: This is the first for me.

I wonder if there’s a way to edit or remove that line so it doesn’t seemingly contradict the events of Andor?

Rogue One is something I want to revisit after this last season of Andor comes out, especially if they nail the landing. I hadn’t really thought about Rogue One much since voice AI and vocal isolation software has become more available, so it will be cool to look back at this film with these new tools and see what can be done. Anyway, it might be worth waiting to update this edit after Andor is complete in case there are other issues that need to be addressed.

Looking back at the scene you mentioned, I think you could trim around that line without it being super noticeable, and Chirrut’s line about carrying his prison wherever he goes can work just as a continuation of his thought.
Honestly, his mouth barely moves when Cassian says, “This is a first for me”, so I wonder if you could just mute the line and it not be super noticeable? Or it could just look like he is saying something under his breath. You could potentially use VFX to make his mouth not move though.

Alternatively, you could alter the line so he actually says, “This isn’t the first for me.” You could probably frankenbyte the line with existing dialogue or use voice AI to replace it.

I think an alternate audio track would be great personally. I love JEJ but this scene rips me out of the film every time.

Alternatively, in TM2YC’s cut, he removes this scene and saves the reveal of Vader for when Tarkin calls on him later in the film. I’m honestly not sure which I prefer.

I’ve honestly thought about contacting him and getting his rate. I kind of want to see if he would record some lines for a different project, but we also could get him to record that line for Rogue One, maybe “Your mother once thought as you do” for ROTJ, potential deleted scenes (?), etc.

So, RL, seems very possible he could spruce up that ROTJ edit I know you’re clamoring for!

As for this scene in RO, I’ll plan to reach out to Star Wars Story and see what he thinks for now. Again, I don’t feel a huge need to do this, as it is genuinely JEJ himself in the role for likely the final time.

I know but jej sounds off in that scene, ryan golden sounds like jej in his prime.

I’d hate to see the Vader/Krennic scene go. The only issue I could see with redubbing Vader is that he does have another line later on in the movie: “Prepare a boarding party”

Also that line I’d redo with Ryan as well.

Waiting for Andor’s next season is a good call. Unless I am grossly mistaken, the final season has a timeline of a few years to lead into Rogue One. I just hope it is not significantly delayed by Disney’s current issues and the Hollywood strike drama.

As for Vader’s voice, can anything be done using AI to replicate Jones’s voice from A New Hope? I can see where Hal is coming from wanting to use the actual voice of JEJ. I wish it were possible to use his younger voice.

Woah, that’s unlucky.

They don’t shoot things chronologically so it’s probably some scenes with a similar location in the middle of the season that need to be done. But since they’re so close, it makes me wonder if they might just work around that for now in post-production (depending on how long the strikes go for).

The only thing off with Ryan golden’s Vader is a easy fix the Vader helmet echo.

I wasn’t trying to insult the legend himself on here. it’s more sad to hear him as Vader now or as mustafa in the lion king remake. which I only saw clips of because it’s a pointless remake.
