1. Much as I hate to admit it, the picture and color resolution is better on the Lucasfilm DVDs.
2. I tried watching them on a high definition television. While the picture quality was acceptable (best I could expect), the picture was too small. Why? The 4:3 laserdisc signal had been transferred, without adaptation, and became a 4:3 DVD signal. This was the beginning of my education on high definition, or 16:9, formatting. Does anyone know what software you need to make sure the picture is framed in a 16:9 signal? Has anyone been successful in converting a 4:3 signal to 16:9?
