Goosebump lines

I know we've had threads about favorite lines from the SW films, but what about line that still give you 'goosebumps' when you hear them?

I can't say I remember many lines from the PT but I still get a charge out of Luke's delivery of:

"I am a Jedi... like my father before me"

Here are the main lines that give me goosebumos:

"Your apprentice, Skywalker will be." - Yoda in TPM

"As my first act under this new authority, I will create a grand army of the Republic, that will counter the increasing threat of the Seperatists." Palpatine in AOTC

"In order to ensure the security and continuing stability, the Republic will be reorganized into the first Galactic Empire! … for a safe and secure society!" - Palpatine in ROTS

"I want to come with you to Alderaan. There's nothing for me now. I want to learn the ways of the Force, and become a Jedi like my father." - Luke in ANH

"I am your father" - Vader in ESB

""I am a Jedi... like my father before me" - Luke in ROTJ

"You already have Luke. You were right. You were right about me. Tell your sister, you were right. - Anakin in ROTJ

I think the one that allways gives me the chills is this one: "sister, you have a twin-sister..." Vader - ROTJ

I get chills every time I hear Luke say, "Leia!...Leia is my sister!" I'm getting chills just typing it.

I also agree. Just thinking about the line gave me goose bumps right now.

Or this one: Only now at the end, do you understand... The Emperor - ROTJ

And this one: You will pay the price for your lack of vision. The Emperor - ROTJ

Come to think of it, The Emperor has a lot of lines that sends chills down the spine... but then again, he is The Emperor.

Derailing the thread a little, the music is what gets me on several occasions. Binary Sunset aside, one of the scenes that gives me huge goose bumps is the part where Luke attacks Vader in ROTJ and the music swells to dramatic portions. You see Luke's saber strike harder and faster and the music is Luke's theme but all dark and somber and you see son against father in a final emotional battle ... wow. I've got chills on my arms just thinking about it.

And it's not in the movie, but a longer extended version of the Funeral Pyer music brings me to tears every single time I hear it.

I love the Binary Sunset scene so much when im watching Star Wars i rewind the DVD at least once to see it again and feel the effect of the music, and other one than gives me goosebumps is the introduction of the Super Star Destroyer with the Imperial March playing in Empire, and even now all these years later imo it is still an amazing sequence and imo not matched in the Prequels with everything available to George....

Have you ever heard the alternate version for the Binary Sunset? It's neat. I've got it on my 2 CD set of the Special Edition soundtrack and it has a more creepy tone to it. Instead of it being like "Looking to the future for hope and adventure" it's more like "The empire is out there and no good will come to us."

It really cool. I put in my ANH tape, brought it to the right scene and then played the soundtrack through my speakers and pressed play simultaneously. It was cool to look at. And since it comes right after Owen's "that's what I'm afraid of" comment about Luke having too much of his father in him, and knowing what we know about Luke's father that scene with the alternate music is damn cool. Not better, but cool it see anyway.

Yeah, I have that CD, and it's a pretty cool track. I would try that myself by watching the video, but I'm too lazy to find exactly where it would fit. It doesn't give the chills the current one does, but it's still pretty awesome, and I always listen to it when I play the soundtrack.

The 'binary sunset' sequence is a crowning moment of cinema and is a perfect synergy of performance, cinematography, direction and scoring. The ENTIRE message, IMHO, of the OT is told in that one short sequence- with, I'll add, only approximately ONE 'special effect'.

That scene was added on, thematically, in ESB with the 'I am your father' exchange (in which we learn that hope can sometimes turn to despair which in turn can create a direction in our lives) and then in ROTJ with the 'I am a Jedi' sequence and the Emperor scenes which follow (bringing us full circle and showing that mature decisions and the right direction can lead us down the correct path even at the very end).

*sigh* Escapist fun yes. Lessons to be learned for a young impressionable mind? Absolutely. I'll refrain from any comments on the PT in this thread.

"You're all clear kid, so let's blow this thing and go home!"

-Han Solo (When he and Chewy come to Lukes assist on the Death Star torpedo assault)

Also I love the Chamacazee(sp?) scene when the out of control A-wing Takes out The Super Stardestroyer Imperial flag ship. With the screaming pilot, to Adm. Piett's screaming dive, to fiery explosion on the Star destroyer bridge, to cheering on Adm. Ackbars Rebel flag ship. It was a brilliant sound and sequence!

If you mean you don't know how to link it up, it's a peice of cake. Get to the part where Owen is about to say "That's what I'm afraid of." The Binary Sunset music starts right about there. Now, for the alternate Binary Sunset music, it starts in the exact same spot. It runs the whole sequence just like the regular binary sunset music does. Just put on your head phones, put in your ANH copy and then press play at the same time. It'll line right up.

"So this is how liberty dies...with thunderous applause." - Padme Amidalla, ROTS

This line is what made me love episodes 1 & 2...it's a pity it took half way through ROTS for me to have that appreciation for those films.
Forever a Star Wars fan!

On a PT note, there is only one place that gives me goose bumps (sad that in the course of 6.5 hours of movie, that is the only place).

Anyway it is in ROTS where Yoda is fighting the Emperor. They are dueling on his platform and Yoda steps on the button that makes the platform rise into the senate chamber. You see it rising up from the floor with the whole empty senate chamber growing around them and you see fierce lightsaber fighting on this tiny little platform dwarfed by this huge symbol of democracy.

The symbolism is amazing in that scene. Very good work with the camera angles and music. To see the last battle for fighting for Republic justice. I couldn't have picked a more appropriate place for that battle. It is the only scene in the entire PT that I like.

Thanks. I sort of assumed it had the same timing since it was scored for the same scene. But when I'm listening to the soundtracks in the car (when I'm not pretending I'm flying an X-wing making a trench run ^_^), I match up what I'm listening to to the images in my mind of what's going on. And I've tried that with the Alternate (just in my head), and I just can't seem to get a grab on it, so I guess I subconsciously decided that it just can't sink up. Yeah, that's not much for trying. But I think I'm going to try it now. Thanks, Jenny.

Oh my God! You do that too?!! My favorite track to listen to is on my ROTJ CD and is track 12, the bonus music of "The Forest Battle." I will listen to that over and over again in my car, to and from class. I pretend that I'm right there flying my X-Wing. (For some strange Reason I'm always teamed up with Wedge... Proabably because I know Luke is on the Death Star.) It's a good thing its all back farm roads when I drive because traffic might get scared.

Oh and when you try the sync-up, it actually works perfectly. I was surprised too because for 8 years I just had my own images of what that music was to. Then I actually looked at what it said - "Alternate Binary Sunset: John Williams wrote the music but Lucas wanted to go in a different direction so he wrote the music differently." I was shocked. How could I miss this? So I linked it up and viola! It worked!

I love the alternate Binary Sunset, too. I wouldn't mind seeing-- er, hearing it in another movie.

The bonus Forest Battle is fun.

One part-- not a line-- that gives me goosebumps is when the Rebel fleet enters hyperspace. There's something exciting about seeing all those ships going to lightspeed at the same time.

I have a bad feeling about this...

And when Yoda overpowered Palpatine with the force lightning, and that "Oh, shit!" look on his face when he knew he was overpowered.

Well, like I said, I'm going to try it. Unfortunately, I don't have the ROTJ soundtrack. The last one I got was ESB, which is my favorite movie musical score.

Another moment where I got chills was in Chapter 21 of the Clone Wars series, where Yoda knights Anakin and says something like:

"Anakin Skywalker, by will of the force, dub thee do I, Jedi... Knight of the Republic."
