Thanks for that.
What a tragic end to such a talent.

A small update on the Navajo dub.

I'm interested in hearing this version, even if it's the SE...
If anyone's in the DC area and free this Friday, the Navajo Dub is playing at the American Indian Museum. I'd go if I didn't already have plans.

A sculptor who worked on 2001 and Star Wars, and tragically died way too young. Who knew Threepio and the Starchild were siblings?

That is a very interesting story. Can't help but wonder how far reaching her influence would have been. Of course, you can't get much further reaching than C3PO in global pop culture. As Bingo said, what a tragic loss.

Does it come with a Mini Ric?
You'll have to ask Chaz Solo for that.
It approved. Moff Panaka approve it, so it approved.

Someone new here is using that as an avatar. Can't remember who.

In Star Wars, after the gang sneak/blast their way onto the Death Star, are they able to check out the DS's floor plans and find the tractor beams location becasue they lucked out and happen to be in a room with access to that info or are they supposed to be using the DS plans stored in R2?

And that is why I knew open casting calls would be a bad idea... *sigh*
A Goon in a Gaggle of 'em
Has anyone ever actually been cast from one of these things? They reek of a publicity stunt.

I'm curious: Would you have done the rise of Palpatine differently or do you like it as it is?
A giant "Disney Star Wars logo", with Lucasfilm Animation and Walt Disney Studios logos at the bottom? Those seem like odd things to have on letterheads.

Completely differently. As it is, the only reason it works out for him is because everyone else is totally stupid.

Wait, since when do you post anywhere but boring Doctor Who threads?
:p
Ok, so this is very strange, and very random, but I just had to post it...
I was watching the 1995 Faces VHS of ESB last night (I have an old TV/VCR I'm getting rid of- wanted to give it one last hurrah). I noticed something really strange when Luke falls onto the antenna thingy at the bottom of Cloud City.
Right after he lands, there's a weird sound, and honestly, it kinda sounds like a robotic voice (Vader?) saying "THE HAND." Then, you see the shot of Luke's hand (or is it just debris?) falling.
I know, it sounds crazy, but I absolutely can't un-hear it now. I know it's supposed to be the sound of the metal antenna bending or whatever, and not Vader saying "the hand," but man, it sounds weird, doesn't it?
I double-checked on Harmy's v1.0 with VLC. It happens around 1:51:40 to 1:51:41. On my laptop speakers, I can hear it best with tracks 2 and 3.
ps. No mind altering substances were consumed at the time of viewing!
I don't have Harmy's ESB, but I do have the film. I watched that part three times and listened closely. I hear the music and the squeak of Luke's derriere on metal. Later there's the strain of the antenna when he lands, but. . . I just don't know what you're talking about. This is Puggo's 16 mm. Maybe that makes a difference, but I've watched four other versions and never noticed it.
Has anyone seen these? It's scary how much they work.

^Skip to :30 on this one.
I’m just here because I’m driving tonight.
I tried to watch the Holiday Special last night for the first time in full. Usually, I tend to skim it. What a mistake that was.
Wow. I was with a few friends who did this to humor me, and one of them loved it. Well, at least, for some reason he was captured by the Diahann Carroll segment. Other than that, though, we all hated it. I mean, I couldn't even ironically enjoy it. Turned it off halfway through the cartoon. And yes, for the record, we did use the rifftrax for part of it.
Worst decision I've made this week.
A Goon in a Gaggle of 'em
I think the cartoon is genuinely very good, and I enjoy watching it every now and then.
The special itself though, is so bad it's... bad. It's TOO bad to be "so bad it's good." I sat down to watch the whole thing a few years ago, and actually had to quit with about 15 minutes left, I just couldn't take it. I can't enjoy it ironically, or on any level (except the cartoon).
A few months ago I sat down to watch it with Rifftrax, but could only stomach the first 10 min or so.
*Actually enjoys the Holiday Special and only ever watches it in full*
I've seen too many truly horrible movies to be fazed by the moderate poorness that is the Holiday Special.
